There is some scuttlebutt about it in the press, but neither man has anything listed on the schedule.

Although it is old news to us, here is Trout's views of the Mundine backout reported in his local paper the: Las Cruces Sun News on the 19th April:
LAS CRUCES -
Austin Trout was looking for a fight after last defending his 154-pound WBA world title in November. Nothing was crystal clear in the future and a potential matchup with then mandatory opponent Anthony Mundine was on-again, off-again at best. Mundine ultimately sacrificed his mandatory status......Burke said Mundine would have been a good fight for Trout from a match up standpoint and a payday against an Australian legend.
As it turned out, Trout didn't need the Mundine fight. But a back-and-forth exchange between the two fighters on Twitter was fun in the meantime. "He did everything that he could not to fight me, but I'm done with it," Trout said. "He passed up his chance. It's just a shame I didn't get a chance to punch him in his mouth............
And so say all of us!
There was a whisper on last night's Foxtel card that Mundine would be again fighting on the 16th June 2012 against an unknown opponent.

Seems more interested in defending a bunch of car thieves that ran two women over.
Anthony Mundine, the Kate Fischer of boxing. Anything for publicity.

i bet if they were white kids and were driving down the footpath out the front of his house and had run over his wife and mother, he'd have torn their limbs off had he got his paws on them.

Mundine's boxing career is going nowhere. As holder of the interim WBA belt he is entitles to fight Trout for his title, but because of Mundine's dithering Trout is defending his title against Delvin Rodriguez in June. Anthony is his own worst enemy.

It is important to remember that Mundine was spruiking earlier this year that this run overseas was about his legacy and not about money. He worked at his way into the postion where he was to fight Trout for his WBA title, that in turn would make him Miguel Cotto's next mandatory. This was his stated end game.
I thought he was genuine about it too, aligning himself with Top Rank (Cotto's sometime manager/advisor/matchmaker), was a big step in the right direction.
Now that he is in the position to go up against Trout, he has stated there is nothing in fight Trout for him. The bloke has lost the plot!

Mundine is finished, he might aswell retire now, its excuse after excuse.
He always seems to think there is something better out there than the fights fans want to see him in.
He should just stick to promoting now, after all he is only a business man.

4 of the last 5 posts sum it up perfectly.
the guy has fights available that people want to see.
he says that there is no money for him to fight trout. well how bout this - get on a card in the US on a sat night(sunday noon/early arvo east coast aussie time) split the purse 40/60, split the us PPV(if there is any) revenue 40/60, and split the aussie PPV 60/40 or maybe 70/30 depending on negotiations. Sell the fight for $30 down here. He would make more than any other fight most likely since green.
It would be the 2nd fight i would pay for with mundine in it(unless you count beers at the local while watching, haha)
at the end of the day, who goes to the US with little name, and gets a huge payday that he is chasing??? who is out there that will pay more than trout as a potential lead up(the fight should have been done and dusted by now)

The last known appearance by our man was on the set of the latest Star Trek movie, when he was heard asking if he could borrow one of the Starship Enterprise's cloaking devices.
Since his visit to Fox Studios, Mundine is now using this form of stealth technology, that uses selective bending of light (and other forms of energy) to render himself completely invisible to the electromagnetic spectrum and the boxing public.

A home challenge for Trout's world title is a golden opportunity gone begging.

I just read this:
The World Boxing Association has decided to vacate two world titles. The first one vacated is the interim super welterweight which was held by Australian Anthony Mundine. The Ratings Committee reported that it has implemented the rules adter Mundine’s camp failed to obey an order for a mandatory fight against world champion Austin Trout.

The WBA has a champion and a super champion. what do they need an interim champion?
By the way, regarding Patron's comment about Matthew Newton, it seems old Bert was handy with his fists in his younger days. Ernie Sigley was once on TV talking about when he was singing rock 'n'roll in halls around Melbourne in the 1950s. Ernie said that while he was singing on stage Bert would be punching out the "bodgies" at the back of the hall and throwing them out.
If Ernie's singing in the 50s was as bad as it was in the 1970s he probably needed protection.
