Ok, devil's advocate.

Who should be on the undercard and who shall they be fighting that will appeal to an audience made up of 90% or more Nottingham fans ?
90%? doesn't Froch have much travelling support then Gomez?

I just hope the main event is a thriller otherwise the local fans, not boxing fans who've turned out to support their local boy done good may end up feeling slightly fleeced.

I'm pleased they've brought Bute to Nottingham though :OhYes:

It's a Nottingham home coming, first and last.

As a Notts lad, I'm more than happy with the main event - and an undercard of local fighters is a bonus and nothing more.

The names might mean little to the johnny come lately, but to boxing fans around Nottingham, whom will make 90% of the crowd up they will know who they are.

I'd somewhat see your point if it was PPV but it's not.
Shaky logic. By that yardstick any 'name' fighter in his hometown is allowed to have a cack undercard because people only want to see the main event. Isn't that the case with 80% of shows though? So why don't we scrap undercards altogether? I've got no problem with this undercard, but due to the expense of bringing Bute in. I can't go with the 'all people want is the main event so fornicate em' argument. It might well be true, but main event fighters start on undercards, they're important, and the bigger the show the more exposure there is for undercard fighters

If a certain promoter had put together this undercard together people would be going mad
yeh,but would fish eyes give us the best fight out there for Froch or some bum and a undercard which is a little better.I didn`t think they would get Bute over,so im pleased as punch that Eddie has made the fight. As others have said this is not a ppv card so there will not be money to throw about on the undercard.I usualy like strength in depth in a undercard but this time i don`t give a fornicate, and anyway the undercard looks likely to be better then the one for Clevs last "world" title fight.

He got Kessler over and had a good undercard...Enzo was chief support and it was a roll over but at least it was a WBO Cruiserweight defence in chief support...Burns, Hope, Cleverly

He also got Lacy over and that had a good undercard as well with Enzo (vs. Hobson) again and a Mister Chad Dawson...

So in answer to your question would Warren have got the best fight out there over here....yes.

http://boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2007&mm=11&dd=03 This is Kessler bill, not great but some good prospects were on it. All the money went on Kessler plus the stadium hire which they never paid. Its very hard without US tv money to make these big fights in the UK work financially.

That's fair enough. All I am saying is that Hearn is making out that he's on a one-man mission to resurrect boxing and he is doing no better or no worse than the previous stakeholders...I don't mind someone giving it large - just back it up and I don't feel he's doing that- that's all :D

Would be interested to know why they couldn't do the Forest or City Grounds.

What he's done imo is brilliant, he's got Carl a fight with the second best 168lbs fighter in the world at home after coming off a loss! Now that deserves props IMO! Getting Bute over here is every bit as good as when they got Kessler over here... At the end of the day people attend a boxing show for the main event,

I can't remember a time I've gone to a show for the undercard unless my mate has been fighting, it's simple this will sell out cos Carl Froch is one of the most exciting guys this country has ever seen and he's always in good fights..

I really hope he wins this! The more British world champions we have the better, Burns & Froch IMO are 2 of the most genuine people in British boxing and the longer we have them as world champions the better..

He has always been in exciting fights and the fans and has been packing out the Nottingham Arena even when he was defending the British title against Brian Magee and Robin Reid 7-8 years ago so he has always been a popular fighter it is just a shame that it is only towards the end of his career he has been getting the recognition that his achievements so richly deserves. Plus after fighting Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Glencoffe Johnson and Andre Ward on the road Carl Froch has richly deserved a homecoming fight in front of his fans at the Arena and I am pleased that Eddie Hearn has done that for him, and he was right in listening to the Cobra when he stated that he did not want an easy welcome home fight at the Arena and he wanted to show that he is still a topline fighter in one of the deepest divisions in boxing at the moment because that is the level he has been at since 2008 and he has managed to do that in getting Lucian Bute to leave his comfort zone and to step into that bearpit of a Nottingham Arena to put his IBF belt on the line against Froch.

Plus I hope Froch can do it as well.

You are correct I am wrong. But he has been packing out the Arena since 2005 since he fought Matthew Barney.

I was hoping Anderson was going to get added to the undercard, but that just seems to be a pipe dream now Groves has pulled out his title shot.

shame it would have been a good addtion to the card and a good stage for kenny to shine! :geek:

It seems to me as though Matchroom are leading the way with the good shows and fighters at the moment. All balancing around World level, (brook, barker, froch, rees, mcclosky etc)
