For Browne it is just a fight to get him a few quid and some practice. No, the next opponent could not be worse unless he is thrown in with Butlin again.
Why would Hatton be my 'hero', Brute?
I don't pick my favourites based on where they happened to be born.

It made me want to puke.
Politicians love it; takes the heat off them.

Joe Louis fought Hans Berkie in his 14th fight. Berkie had a 29-28-9 record at the time.N2 Shape wrote:In fact if you check up most of the top current heavyweights there opposition within ther efirst 15 fights wasnt exactly flash!

Re: Anyone know much about Lucas browne?
In those days there was little shame in losing and fighters were only too willing to step up and test themselves. Unlike now when maintaining the zero in your losses column stops many fighters taking even a hint of a risk with their opponent selection.Brute wrote:Joe Louis fought Hans Berkie in his 14th fight. Losing their zeros did not stop the Klitschkos.

It stopped plenty of others though. Do you disagree with the differentiation I am making between then and now?Brute wrote:Losing their zeros did not stop the Klitschkos.

Yeah. People tend to forget that any boxer is susceptible to a good hit or an injury. Chris Byrd beat Vitali after taking the fight at a week's notice. Vitali did his rotator cuff in. Wlad ran out of steam after 10 rounds against Ross Purrity. He later got stopped in five rounds by Brewster, a fighter many people (including his own father) thought lucky to get a decision against Meehan in his next fight!

Just saying
Colin Kenna.

Kenna is old and out of shape. But he's very willing. Browne v Kenna would have been a messy brawl.
Re: Anyone know much about Lucas browne?
he may be willing but he has only won two of his last fourteen fights.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to give Kenna a wrap. He looks and fights like a street brawler. Just saying it would have been a pretty ugly fight.Brute wrote:he may be willing but he has only won two of his last fourteen fights.

Re: Anyone know much about Lucas browne?
I was at Kalgoorlie when Browne beat Clarence Tillman. Won every round in the bout and won a unanimous decision. But not at any stage did he look like he was going to put Clarence away. Still one of our better heavies but dont need throwing to the wolves just yet.
Re: Anyone know much about Lucas browne?
He has hardly been thrown to the wolves. More like a pack of corgis.
Re: Anyone know much about Lucas browne?
Never said that. Just said he wasn't real impressive when i seen him fight so not to step him up too much just yet. If he's only fought corgis how do you know he's as tough as an old boot?Brute wrote:He has hardly been thrown to the wolves. More like a pack of corgis.

I'm talking about the opponents being served up to him in England. Tillman was only his seventh fight and his first 12 round fight. It put some rounds under his belt.fox wrote:Never said that. Yeah fair enough mate. I just think he's got along way to go. But ya have to start somewhere.Brute wrote:I'm talking about the opponents being served up to him in England.fox wrote:Never said that. Then he went back to fighting 4 rounders not long after that. But I hope Browne goes a long way. It just looks like it'll take a long time getting there at this rate.Brute wrote:I'm talking about the opponents being served up to him in England. I don't know why the Hattons went so far down the food chain for this fight. Lucas has beaten fighters with much better credentials than this bloke.
Are they having trouble getting men prepared to fight Browne?

More likely they want to 'showcase' him to the public before matching him with someone he'll need to raise a sweat over.Brute wrote:I don't know why the Hattons went so far down the food chain for this fight. Lucas has beaten fighters with much better credentials than this bloke.
