Had a big wedge on Quigg to win. Contacted Laddies, this is my email response from them:

Our rules, regarding boxing state, All bets will be settled according to the official result declared by the official governing body immediately after the end of the fight. Therefore your bet will stand.

I'm going to enter this discussion.

First, I advise my subscribers always to bet on the draw at a European-rules book as "insurance" if a fight looks like being a competitive fight. I take a chance and don't play the draw in accumulators because in a four-or-five boxer parlay it cuts into potential payouts to play the draw four/five times.

OK, on to Quigg vs Munroe.

This was billed as being for the interim WBA title. One would assume, then, that even though two British boxers were involved that the fight would be under WBA rules (which is the same thing as saying "international rules").

A player would thus have legitimately expected the fight to be ruled a no decision when the unfortunate clash of heads ended the bout in the third round. I wouldn't be surprised (in fact I anticipate it) that the WBA will, in the fairly near future, amend/overturn the original verdict and rule the bout to have been a "no decision".

We all know that a sportsbook pays out on the result given on the night. This is fair enough. In the case of Quigg vs Munroe, though, there is a huge grey area. The books are in a dilemma. If they void all wagers, players who bet on the draw will be screaming blue murder. If they merely refund all bets placed on either fighter, and let the "draw" bets stand, they will lose money -- but players who took a position on either boxer (without a "draw" insurance wager) would see this as huge goodwill gesture. So the books would lose in the short term but perhaps gain in the long term by having generated massive goodwill and customer loyalty. And you can't buy goodwill and loyalty.

I know the position I would have taken were I running a sportsbook.

Ladbrokes have settled it as a draw. No Refunds

Bet on a Munroe win, Paddy Power have not refunded my bet but William Hill have.

Skybet voided the Munroe win in my accumulator; but Stan James let it stand as a draw (I had a Munroe win). I have contacted them with no response yet....

Also I agree with Graham - keeping hold of the customer should be the bookies priority here. Esp as, let's be clear, this wasn't a massive event so they will hardly be expected to lose a lot of money

And for the 2nd weekend running Ive been screwed!!!! After last weekends bullshít technical draw debacle which I was still seething about I decided I'd back Matthysse to win via stoppage at 5/2.

Woke up this morning, watched the fight, logged on to withdraw some winnings to find my stake had been returned and the bet voided due to it been a 10 round fight and not 12.

What difference does it make, he knocked him out!!!!

That is honestly my finish with betting on boxing.
