He had a hell of a lot more than just "massive balls"....name me another MW boxer active today who has anywhere near his blend of powerpunching, speed of hand, bobbing and weaving defence and ferocity? Benn could box patiently too and i think he would be too much for Martinez

you really must stop bringing the tragic stuff into this argument - it does not make your case stronger - watson was winning the fight and chris managed to find one from out of nowhere. the fact of the tragedy comes not from chris being dominant in the fight because he was losing it - do you understand what i am saying?

I never said he was dominant. You're setting up a strawman now. I said he nearly beat Watson to death, which is an irrefutable fact.

why? all of us know it - are you saying it because it somehow makes eubank a great puncher? please tell me why you keep saying it

Because it's an irrefutable fact.
Watson KO'd Benn.
Eubank KO'd Watson so viciously he almost killed him.
Dispute it.
Oh, you can't.

#3 isn't a fact. It's another one of your risible opinions.

I'm emphasizing the decisive nature of the victory. This wasn't some iffy hometown stoppage. (Yes, I know they're both British.)

Jesus, do you even watch the fights you go on about?
Eubank was dropped and on the verge of being stopped, he got up and threw a big uppercut, Watson walked onto it and fall back onto the ropes and hit the back of his neck on the ropes. The bell then went and Watson had to be dragged back to his corner and then literally pushed out into the centre of the ring for the start of the 12th. He couldn't even walk, the ref had to pull him and then he fell back into the ropes where Eubank hit gloves mostly until the ref stepped in.
The Neurosurgeon that operated on Watson said that his near death was due to the time it took him to be operated on.

Has anyone claimed it was? And if you are trying to emphasise that point maybe you could do it with a touch more class than repeating he nearly died. Everyone has seen it and knows what happened subsequently, no-one needs it spelled out for them in such callous terms.
And how would you suggest I more classily report what happened? Eubank nearly killed him. That's what happened. I implied nothing about dominance over the first 10 rounds, and I certainly said nothing about that.
And I described the KO in detail, just as I described Benn's stoppage of Galvano in detail (cuts). I never claimed anyone said the stoppage was iffy; I was emphasizing its viciousness and finality. Nearly killing an opponent is about as definitive as it gets.

It was the rope, not the "barrage" in the 12th.

Yes, and it was caused by the punch. Yes, I've obviously seen the fight; silly question.
Would it make you feel better if I said Eubank beat Watson into a coma?

He didn't beat him into a coma.
The middle rope should be in the IBHOF according to your logic.

It was mainly the punch in the 11th.

He landed it. Your argument is like saying that when A throws B against a wall, causing B to be unconscious, the wall caused it and not A.

In the first fight Watson was robbed. Plain and simple. But for a while every time Eubank’s fights went to the cards there was a lull while we waited for the scores to be added up the right way.
Watson decided in the second fight that he couldn’t allow it to go to the cards a second time. He knew that Eubank was the draw and the title would have to be literally cut out of his spleen.
So in those late rounds, with the fight surely in the bag…Watson did not take a round off. Or hold back…or play it safe… he had no choice but to go for it….and the rest is as it is…
I like Eubank. I too was a fan. He was a tremendous fighter…strong, stout chin, great psychology, highly skilled, great reflexes… But he rarely fought for 3 mins of a round. He always looked big at whatever weight he fought at. I wonder if he was often drained because stamina seemed an issue. I don’t want to denigrate him because he was top drawer but he was on a bum of the month tour allowed by TV and the WBO…and he always got the decisions…
I think misterpunch and Datsue have a handle on all this...

I don't think Watson was robbed the first time, and nobody had the title for the second fight.

You are painful to discuss things with.
You're using the "fact" that Eubank battered Watson into a coma as some sort of measuring stick to beat Benn with and somehow elevate Eubank above Benn in some sort of mythic rankings in your head.
It's a totally specious argument.
More importantly, you've already backtracked and said that he didn't beat him into a coma, he knocked him down with one punch which didn't put him into a coma at all, he was saved by the bell and helped back to his corner.
