I am interested to know how Murray will travel, will he come here a week or two in advance and have a mini camp, will he have a full camp over here or fly in pretty much just for the fight since jet lag isn't a big deal a couple of days before?

I backpacked around South America several years back and, as Winkveron said earlier, found the people in Argentina generally very friendly. As for anti-England sentiment I remember on a night out in Cordoba (contains jealousy of Winkveron) being surprised to see a young local bloke wearing a Beckham England shirt and later on another wearing a red England '66 World Cup shirt.
I was gutted that I didn't see a fight at Luna Park having been in town but not feeling too well after an overnight bus journey from Mendoza and I thought there'd be other opportunities - there weren't!
I don't know how easy it would be to get a ticket for Boca-River but I got one for their Copa Libertadores semi-final in 2004 (at River) via the hostel I was staying at. To anyone who's going, a hostel can be useful for this sort of thing and worth thinking about for costs and meeting people if you're travelling alone. I'd also recommend finding a tenedor libre restaurant.

Not happy this fight is happening in Argentina, can't see him getting a close call out there so he's looking at either destroying Martinez (big ask) or stopping him.

Boca River is on the 5th of May ...... worth hanging around for a week IMO better if a week earlier

I was following Martin on twitter and his manager too and heard the same story of 200 "reserved" tickets, not a sausage since so kinda lost interest and not going unless something happens soon. I will not be mixing with Boca, Velez, River, Racing, Independiente and San Lorenzo hooligans even though I am resident here and speak Spanish .... I couldn't cheer Sergio and pretend not to be 100% behind Murray and it would be obvious after a while where I was from and I would expect a fair amount of shit to go down. Anyone hears owt sharpish, pm me......

Regarding sticking around for the Boca-River game, prices are looking at between £200-335 which is quite frankly ridiculous considering I pay about £9 for premier division games in Cordoba.

I used to watch Ferrocarril Oeste in Cabalitto, a nice afternoon out in an ancient rickety wooden
stadium that had seen better days.

Haha you would know the back alley escape routes around Velez Stadium then! I looked for a team here that reminds me of my team in England, a team with the most amazing support home and especially away, that gives you hope once every 10 years that they will win something only to let you down dramatically, that have won one great thing in my life time, may never win the league the rest of my life time, play in stripes with a capacity around the same figure and make you really angry on a weekend more often than not.

Racing had won the 2001 Apetura when I went to Argentina the first time in January 2002 and I bought a Clarin book called 'Racing Campeon' and what I gathered from the history that they are a historically great side with tons of history, a bit like Wolverhampton Wanderers but when I was there they had that bit of glory for the first time in years. Do I know Liniers? I do but not at night! That is a rough place.

Haha yes the quality isn't the best. I only go because a) the atmosphere is great b) there are so many reminders of what football used to be like in England and c) it's better than nothing and allows me to fulfill my football fix.

Incidentally last Sunday's drab game was lifted by a cracking last minute winner for Belgrano. Crowd went insane. Velez at home a week on Sunday which should be interesting!

I agree with what you say. it reminds me of footie pre Hillsboro disaster, totally different to prawn sarnies of today ............ ahhh the good old days .......... how I miss the piss down the back of the legs, the swaying of the crowd crushing your sternum into an iron bar, the likely Streptococcal half time mince pies, third degree bovril lip burns, fights that weren't finished 12 hours earlier in the night clubs being sorted out in the stands and being able to shout what the fornicate you want to who the fornicate you want without the god squad on your fornicating case......
