well surely that depends on how you percieve someone to be rated.

the OP says he's the greatest fighter ever... that is overrated.

The most annoying aspect of Tyson fans is they are full of excuses. All you hear is he wasn't hismelf when he lost to Buster. He was never the same after jail when he got a boxing lesson from Evander. Or when they ask only to judge Tyson at his 'peak', not that his 'peak' is a particular span, but we just need to imagine him, perhaps based on an individual performance, then say "yeah man, nobody would have beat THAT Tyson, the one that beats spinks, Berbick, Holmes...". Well what about Riddick Bowe? I'm allowed to apply the Tyson logic to him? His 'peak' performance was probably KTFO Holyfield. Can we forget everything else and name him the greatest fighter of all times?

Tyson's speed would certainly have troubled Ali early on, I can even see him knocking Ali down - but in the end, Ali would have gotten inside his head, broken his will and probably stopped him. Tyson was a poor fighter over the latter half of a fight, whereas a peak Ali got stronger as the fight wore on. Tyson did have a very good chin, so he may have survived, but every time Tyson lost, he got stopped, it was more a mental thing than anything, once he stopped having his own way, Mike began to mentally implode, and then finally, physically concede after absorbing a terrific beating.

I always have figured Tyson beat's frazier though, his speed and his fast start would have troubled Joe, who always took a few rounds of smokin' to get going. I don't think he'd have been given time against Tyson, and it would have been like the Foreman fights.

Bowe's first fight with Evander was his peak for me. He looked superlative that night, had every single wrinkle in the game. Jab, engine, inside outside, just terrific. Bowe just lacked the mental discipline to go along with his supreme talent and athletic gifts.

Tyson wasn't at his peak against Douglas, he stopped training properly after Spinks.

I picked Ali BTW.

I could name a few. I agree though, he's terribly overrated by a lot of people. I wouldn't put him in a top ten of all time heavyweights let alone first.
Do you really believe there are 10 or more HW's that would have beaten Tyson @ his best.

In my opinion, he's not the best ever, but only Ali, Holmes, Liston, Foreman & Louis would have beaten him. He beats all the rest. He COULD have miles better than ANY OTHER Heavyweight in history, but it didn't turn out like that.

People are so quick to say, "Tyson is very overrated", & I do agree some people do overrate him. However, the same applies to Ali. It's absolute rubbish when people say, "Ali is the best P4P ever". Get real! Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran & Ray Leonard were more complete fighters than Ali, in my opinion.

People make out Tyson wouldn't have laid a glove on Ali, which is utter bullshit.
