No doubt. I think that is obvious, so I assume that he is referring to Brook's training team.

just a quick question, isnt this why sky dropped hatton and maloney for setting dates for fights and then having to drop the show due to main events pulling out and shows cancelling?

Nope,Latvians and leisure centres did for Maloney.Hatton was unlucky given more time they could of done well.Sky set some high standerds before the end of the contracts and only Matchroom delivered what they wanted with record viewing figures for Brook and Froch, like i said i believe Hatton was unlucky but they wanted to only work with one promoter and Matchroom was the logical choice.

If I was eddie I would give alexander 3 months to heal, as a bicep injury plus training will take this, and I would chase amir khan for a domestic block buster.

Mayweather has posted on facebook he is in advanced negotiations with Devon Alexander!

Yep there is an article on ringtv about Alexander getting the Mayweather fight and they are Golden Boy owned.

Floyd Mayweather is scared of Kell's biceps.

If the Mayweather rumour is true it really does put the cat amongst the pigeons because normally a unification fight offer would fall outside the terms of the fight contract ?
I expect Eddie would lobby heavily for Alexander to be stripped but money talks.

If Alexander can take the Mayweather fight he will; it make$ $en$e. Looks like Hearn is fighting Brook's corner though:

Eddie Hearn wrote:Number 1 we have a signed contract to fight Devon Alexander for the IBF Title. Number 2 If they want Alexander v Mayweather to be a unification they would have to ask for an exemption from the IBF which is very unlikely given we already have signed contracts AND any exemption would have to take place within 90 days of last bout. We questioned the injury and now we await news from Golden Boy which, given the news that they are looking to enter the UK promoting market should be interesting. We will fight tooth and nail for Kelvin Brook and thanks for your support. More news soon

Loads of lads losing money unless Goldenboy pull the fingers out, April 27th Garcia vs Judah in NYC is perfect replacement.

Yeah I know politics Showtime & TV dates but it would make sense.

Kell is also gutted but going to tick over until confirmation.

As for Alexander, could be genuine, or something in camp may not be right and need more time.

Feel sorry for you mate. Spent big a few years back to go to Vegas for Rick's fight with Floyd, and we spent a good few weeks worrying about an injury delay etc. Especially as we had paid absolutely stupid money for $40 face value tickets, and so we'd lose loads.

That was slightly mitigated however by knowing the absolute worse case scenario meant we still had 5 nights in Vegas. I guess a few nights in Detroit with nothing to do isn't quite the same....

Curious - when you say "loads of lads", do you know roughly how many were going out. I was assuming Brook would only take say a hundred or so out at best, but was interested to know what the numbers were going to be.

Eddie,
Kelvin Brook ?
Thought it was Ezekiel if we're using Sunday titles.
I honestly believe that if the Mayweather fight is a unification fight, sanctioned by the IBF then Alexander can walk away from the Brook contract.
Seriously hope I am wrong.
Step aside money ?
Strip Alexander ?
Brook v ** for vacant title ?
In the UK ?
All up from grabs I guess and whilst its outside the control of the UK end you've got to feel sorry for the fans booked on (BigB TJ77 etc).

If Alexander is going to get the Mayweather gig then no one can blame him for taking it, the difference in pay will be night and day type stuff. I feel for Kell but this has happened to numerous fighters in the past, if his team fight hard he will likely be offered step aside money he can't refuse and first dibs at the winner (though neither winner would fight him next and he'd prob be left with a vacant title shot as the winner gives up the IBF).

Look how long poor Selcuk Aydin was the WBC number one? Or the Nigerian based over here was WBC number one at 140 before getting sparked for the interim in the autumn? One sole governing body would solve this, although in fairness Kell wouldn't be the mandatory in that situation either.

Such is the lot of the paper champion or contender, your at the mercy of the whims of whichever of the four governing bodies your ranked by, and they don't give a damn unless it's coloured green...........

^ wait, was that Akabusi or Fashanu?

I once had my picture taken with Kris Akabusi. I was seven & had won... something... escapes me now... at the school sports day. He happened to be visiting, doing some charity thing or other.

My old man found out I was in a picture with a Black man & smacked me around the ear for allowing it to be taken.

I thought about asking him about my school photo, in which half the kids weren't white, but my ear hurt, so I didn't.

True story.

Think the Kelvin is a iPhone spell fail, I feel for me to haha - haven't a clue what's happening neither does Kell, he is frustrated.

Back in the UK end of the week, we thought new date be announced but this Mayweather saga throws a spanner in the works.

Oh I dunno, maybe it's down to the very public display that brook now has one of the most professional teams in boxing behind him. Bicep injury could be true, we will never know if its not but there's no doubting that brook has make significant changes since the Carson jones fight and addressed the issues he needed to. If Alexander doesn't turn up 100% fit and ready he will get beat easily, so maybe he wasn't going to be ready in time, his own picture from 8 weeks out didn't look like he was on point
Out of curiosity, who composes the team you mention, when did they start working with Brook, and how do you know that Alexander is impressed with the team? I'd also appreciate it if you posted the picture of Alexander that you're referring to.

Brook's only opponent since facing Jones 7 months ago was a mediocre fighter, and the fight went only three rounds, whereas Brook's trouble with Jones didn't start until roughly the fifth round. I don't think that good evidence can be extracted from that performance to support the claim that Brook has made significant changes that will translate into improved performances against top opponents like Alexander, and I don't think it is wise to assume that because Brook has made certain changes in training that he won't have stamina issues against top opponents who will push him and last rounds.

The claim that Alexander will lose unless he is 100% fit is unwarranted and based on nothing that either fighter has done inside the professional ring, and I doubt that Alexander agrees with the claim as you seem to assume he does. Also, if he decided not to fight because he's in relatively poor shape, that decision may reflect a concern about making weight and keeping his title, rather than a concern about losing to Brook.
That's some great extrapolation work you have done there!

Who composes these teams, i dont know. The team however is a lot more than just promoter/manager and trainer though. As for saying Alexander is impressed by the team, that wasnt me. here's the photo of Alexander 8 weeks out he put up on twitter, looking smooth there
https://twitter.com/DAlexandereal/statu ... 28/photo/1

The only kind of person who would think it not wise to assume Brook is now a better conditioned athlete than the when he faced Jones is one who has never stepped in a gym, has no appreciation of nutrition and doesn't wish to understand anymore about boxing than left, right and the promoters cut, surely thats not what you are, is it? By your comments you only go on what happens in a fight, not what's done through the training, the fight remember is the byproduct of the weeks/months/years of training. Brook addressed the issues from the Jones fight from all i've read and he looked great at the Saldivia weigh in, not just physically either, he looked to have made the weight easy compared to the Jones weigh in. What can be addressed and changed in 7 months? How about you undergo a 7 months intense training and nutrition programme backed by scientists and using a good coach to guide you through and then come back and tell us? Loads can be achieved in that time, i once put 1 INCH on my.... biceps in that time ;)

In short it sounds like you only understand what happens in the ring, thus you dont appreciate the changes he's made. Most in the game who are more than armchair fans will understand though.

Your last paragraph, any fighter at the top of their game going in to the ring not at 100% is likely to lose against another top fighter who is 100%. Hard work beats talent, when talent doesnt work hard. So i think it's a fair comment to say a less than 100% Alexander gets beat, because i understand how big a difference it makes.

Think outside the ring a little, there's more to boxing these days than just lacing up and throwing combos, bro.

What you do in the gym, on the treadmills, in the weights room even in the kitchen, directly reflects on what you are capable of doing in the ring.

Just because he hasnt yet gone 12 rounds doesnt mean he's not fitter. he was fit for purpose against jones, he just needed to be a better athlete. which is what you get i assume when you bring a new specialist team in.

going on about him having no stamina is pretty silly now.

course its not silly to want to see it, its silly to say its still an issue when its been publicly addressed.

its like saying a car thats had a new engine because the old engine was knackered is still going to have problems.

Read the Jones comment again, its in relation to the 'only need to rock up with a heart and some fight' kind of comments, he showed that, he just wasnt as fit as he should have been, he's addressed that, so we're told. so he can fight as he showed and now he has his stamina sorted.

would it help if i wrote in bullet points on here?!
