Yeah you're right he would and It will never happen anyway.
By the time/if ever Selby gets to that level Lopez will be finished.

People are talking like Selby is the finished article, he isn't. my personal prediction, if he stays dedicated, and keeps improving, he will be one of the best talents we have seen on these shores.

Lindsay took a sustained beating in there and showed great courage. Selby was too big for him.

Selby looked great in parts, but he never stepped it up when in truth he should have finished him in the 11th.

His protector belt was very high, whereas Lindsay looked like he wasn't wearing one. There was hardly any open body for Lindsay to hit.

He looked good, but I thought he was hit far too much and if not corrected he will be a one punch knockout waiting to happen at a higher level.

I thought Selby looked great. He was just too big and strong for Lindsay who fought his heart out. I thought Selby adapted well during the fight. In the first couple of rounds his chin was way up in the air and his hands too low. As the fight progressed the chin came down and the hands came up higher. He worked every minute of the fight and was just in a different league to Martin who is a very good fighter. Selby is a talent.

He looked very very good but only has had 15 fights. His coached said the right things, going the old fashion route of winning the title outright. Some fights are rushed far too fast, he's good enough for world level but why now? Most fights are only just stepping up to top domestic level after 15 fights. Imagine how good he will be after 20/25 fights

That's what I am thinking, needs to be kept busy and get some more decent names under his belt, couple of European ranked fighters, get his lonsdale outright, 3-4 fights, go for the European crack. If he continues to progress, i can see him winning a world title in 2 years.

Using a search engine found that Selby was mandatory for the European title but pulled out of purse bids in June. Does anyone know his reasoning for this?

If a couple of years ago, someone had told the forum that a British featherweight would arrive on the scene from virtually nowhere and KO Smith and Simpson, and dominate Lindsay, most forum users would be (rightly) wetting themselves with anticipation.

I agree with the OP, the guy looks a genuine talent, and I suspect he will go on to greater things.

Selby did look decent but seems another lee haskins to me, will get exposed in the whiskers department as he steps up, his chin is much much too high coupled with hands too low! Watch the fight again fellas!
