That was probably a fair description about 18 months ago but I've seen a big improvement in his last three fights. His balance and ring generalship are a lot better and he's learnt to use his height. If nothing else you would have to admit his conditioning has improved?

He has only gone past 4 rounds twice and never past 7. His stamina might be fine, but it is unproven.

I agree maybe 2 years ago that description could have fitted but he looks in great shape, he does the distance easily, he can punch, he has a great jab, he's quick on his feet for his size and i think technically he has improved no end.

Yes, in that sense, there are question marks - but not in the sense that there are indicators that he lacks in any area except his ability to hold a shot.

I think it's going to be very hard for anyone to really put him under much pressure with his combination of thumping jab, reach, and devastating power shots. His stamina might be suspect, who knows, but who out there is going to put him under sustained pressure.

Fury does have good output, but his own defence is very porous, and I've no doubt that if Price lands cleanly, Fury will be in a world of trouble.

Wrong. Maloney is quoted as offering Fury a guaranteed £500k.

Again, I will reiterate, that's a career high purse for Fury and not something he is going to get anywhere near for fighting Wlad or Vitali or anyone else in the heavyweight division.

Fury has absolutely bottled it. Be in no doubt.

Just out of interest how do you see the purse being split between champion and mandatory challenger for the following world titles?:
- IBF;
- WBC; and
- WBA

So fury either puts himself in a position where he beats cunningham and the winner of stivern v arreola and becomes the mandatory where they offer him say 10% which means he would have earned the purse from two high profile fights and 10% of the klitschko purse.

Or he fights cunningham wins then fights povetkin and if wins fights wlad - he then gets 2 purses from high profile fights and 25% of the klitschko purse.

Thats i'd guess over a million for either route compared to £500k for price which could possibly result in him being ko'd and his career left in tatters.

You see I'm not convinced about the 'career in tatters' argument, Amir Khan managed to do OK after the Prescott massacre, there are countless others who came back and managed to get back on course. This is a big pay day and Fury swerved the challenge while Price clearly fancies the job. Purely on the basis of not wanting to be knocked out I understand Fury's decision but in the wider context of keeping boxing interesting (the big picture) it's a bit of a disappointment. It's better for the sport if contenders fought each other but obviously I totally understand that boxing is a business first and foremost, maybe it is in the business' better interests in the long term though to make exciting matchups when people care about them and strike when the iron's hot???

There is of course the separate argument of Fury being MORE likely to get subsequent fights if he has previously been KOed...

Fury's a complete bottle job. He (and his team) don't want anything to do with Price.

Yes thats sadly true, and one of the things that has really hurt British boxing over the last few years.

Thats what happens when there are too many promotions, TV deals etc etc, there is nobody around to force the fight to happen.

Price is without doubt Britains best chance of having a World HW Champion. Hes too good for Fury and too big for Haye. People want to see Price/Fury but I dont think the fight would live up to expectations.
