I noticed that you and Ron Lewis were conversing on Twitter, and he stated that many people thought Price had a bad chin due to the 'myth' about the 2006 Commonwealth Games semis; do you know what that myth is?
Multiple sources reported that Price was dropped three times, and he is quoted as saying
"Probably the most notable time I was down, the one everyone keeps carping back too, was when that big Indian southpaw (Varghese Johnson) dropped me three times in the 2006 Commonwealth Games semi in Melbourne. I just wasn’t seeing his shots but my fitness pulled me through and I stopped him in the fourth (with just 12 seconds remaining)."
Also, In some of my posts I've mentioned that Price was dropped by a Welsh fighter in the 4 Nations, and it turns out that it was Alan Kasango:
"The only other time I can think of was when Alan Kasango, an African representing Wales, steamed out swinging, and caught and dropped me with a left hook when I wasn’t concentrating in the opening round of the 2005 Four Nations."

Varghese Johnson was far from big! He was tiny compared to Price too

You're living in fantasy.
You can't teach a man what Thompson knows, what he is, what he can do under pressure. He just 'is' a cool, clever, cunning customer who can whip out these sneaky shots from strange places. He will always know too much for Price. You can teach a big, strong, tall man to box in Price's basic fashion, and he might well pummel a string of well selected men if he is good enough. But he is always going to be facing a crunching KO when you pitch him against a bloke like Thompson, who really knows what he is doing in there.
Price = 1d. Thompson = 2d.

Personally I think he needs to try and get Thompson back in the ring sometime around the summer if he can, perhaps a British/Commonwealth title defence in May first.
I will make no bones about the fact I have always felt David might be suspect because of some of what happened in the vests but that was not a chin shot or chin problem, it was a freak shot which actually missed the intended target and caught him behind the ear/high on the neck,. most of us have seen this happen in gyms/fights over the years a good few times.
The way he crumbled to the floor was exactly how it happens when that spot is caught precisely, it was a fluke, of that for me, there is no doubt.
I thought he was doing ok before that, he seemed to trouble Thompson a little in Price's own corner before it happened and for me the fight would have been perhaps another round or two and
we would have got the expected result.
Again my opinions have not changed Price will win a world title, he hits too hard not too, he will get chances in a fight and if the other guy don't get to Price first then David will have
his opportunities. I do think we will be having this conversation again however due to my feelings about him being somewhat vulnerable.
Now can they get Thompson back because "The Tiger" now holds all the cards and you can bet your life he wont be coming back for the same purse fee, he will demand a lot lot more, I hope Frank can get him back as its what Price needs to put this to bed, it messes with a guys head, fluke or not.

Hitting someone behind the ear isn't a fluke shot at all! Trading up close like that there's a good chance you are going to get hit on the side of your head if your guards down.

Indeed trading in close always has problems like this if 1 had been butted and the fight stopped that wouldnt of been a fluke but is likely to happen in close
If they had a rematch theres a very good chance it would happen again

I thought fury had dropped Price then lost the fight in the ams as well?
Price looked shocking last night he was waving his hands about like audley harrison has done in the past instead of throwing the jab, he was stood bolt upright like tom dallas used to do looking amateurish, he looked like he was crapping his pants, all thompson did was give himself some room, wait for price to come into range throwing the wrong shots at the wrong time with a non existent defence and land a girl slap on him, thats all she wrote.
I think price is chinny, that was such a soft punch to go down from, it maybe a freak punch but i doubt it. He needs to use the same blueprint as wlad and box like that. Ultimately i think blowing out all his opponents has harmed his development, fury has come on leaps and bounds due to getting rounds under his belt, price hasnt had that opportunity. The problem is who can they put in the ring with price that can last a decent number of rounds without sparking him in return.

There's plenty of durable non-punchers at heavy - Chisora, helenius, chambers, johnson are all decent name opposition that would not be likely to worry his chin but should all take him rounds.

Helenius is a non-puncher?

Chin shots, temple shots, it doesn't really matter - you either hold a shot well, or you don't.
( you don't see fighters with good chins react like that from temple shots ) and like 90% of big punchers, Price doesn't.
But Price still has the get out of jail big shots himself, so it's going to make for an exctiting edge of your seat career.
Like Haye, he'll have to learn to avoid the big shots and get his own in first. He's not as crafty as Haye, he was over confident last night, but he'll still get a few more sensational first round KO wins and build himself up to a big fight down the road.
Really showed his class taking that defeat so well, nice guy and hope he comes back soon.

Helenius has the power to muller Price and he's shown he can take a punch.
In fact after that knockout , they'd all fancy their chances

helenius is a big puncher. Chisora is more dangerous than thompson imo, and johnson doesnt throw any punches back. He needs someone feather fisted, durable, with good skills and a high work rate.

Yes mate, agree, especially the bit in bold.
But he's not as young as Haye was when Haye found it out. He's got to get his skates on now (& no jokes about how he looked like he had skates on last night, please...).

Yeah not a great comparison, Haye is a world class boxer, which helps to keep his chin out of danger - and Price is a long way from that. But his power does seem for real....we hope - though as box monthly said, his last 3 or 4 opponents have been a combined age of 150, or something like that.
Frank wants to be careful on the re build, but hopefully he's not going to be importing too many overweight lumps in the process.
I thought Thompson was just here for the payday, but huge credit to the man. In the 2nd round, as he covered up while Price tried his first big assault, you could see by the way he was never took his eyes off Price that he had other plans in the mind.

Thompson has a good knock out ratio but is not a massively powerful man; it's a real shame for Price and for british boxing. Fury is much younger and has time on his side, wonder if Tyson will box Thompson?

Price needs either a rematch with Thompson or a fight with Dereck Chisora (a fit, focused Chisora). He could maybe have a confidence booster first, someone like Paul Butlin, but the fight would need to take place within the next 2 months.

Fury clearly has a roadmap planned i cant see that fight happening.

If Fury doesn't beat Cunningham , then both Fury and Price will be sitting there thinking about that 6 figure payday they missed out on by not fighting each other.
They each have their 'own' paths, but a couple of losses and those are the paths to chump change

Totally right been very vociferous in my views and agree with the above, Someone has been crazy to not have agreed to this fight.
As you say very very high 6 figures for each of them, Anfield in the summer, before someone loses, what happens, see last night for that one.
Chances are one of them will lose again before they fight and it will be an almost make or break fight and they could end up splitting 200k at best instead of a couple of million.
Never sure who advises these guys or whether its themselves (dont just mean these two) because so many fights have been there for the making for huge money and low and behold
someone loses and its down the crapper.

Yeah I was being a touch harsh in him. It is worrying how easily he dispatched Price though given he isn't exactly a murderous banger.
If I were Fury I would be focusing on Cunningham right now. If he wins that then I can see him looking at Thompson. Would give him the ultimate one up on Price. Something that would appeal to Fury I reckon!
Has Tyson said anything about Price's defeat yet?
