The bbbofc refused to issue Oisin Fagan (irish licenced boxer) a foreign boxers permit a number of weeks ago which denied Chris Goodwin (british licenced boxer) the opportunity to ply his trade and earn a living.

You're not wrong, I have been privy to the correspondence between the BBBofC and both the Spanish Federation and the EBU, to say it's a low act is an understatement.
The Spanish had cleared him, as they were very happy with the reports from the Neurosurgeons, however under pressure from the BBBofC they are wavering.
No less than four independent Neurosurgeons have cleared Iain, three during his attempts to convince the BBBofC to license him and a very recent one with a top Neurosurgeon I put him in touch with so he could provide the Spanish with further proof he is fit to box.
Marianne Marston is another person fighting on the show to suffer vindictive actions by the BBBofC.
On refusing her original application Robert Smith stated she only wanted a British license so she could return to America to fight - Duh! she had a twelve fight promotional contract there, what could he expect! - before making clear his disapproval of Women's Boxing by saying to me "Women should be at home bringing up a family not boxing".
I have also been told today that the BBBofC have also been contacting proposed opponents in an attempt to get them to withdraw - whether this is true or not we'll find out quite soon I'm sure.
If this show is a success then hopefully more promoters will hold events here sanctioned by the new sanctioning organisation Bruce Baker has on board, which to be honest I think will be good for the sport here in the UK.

Oh B B has done a lot of good for Boxing in the uk and he does it all for the love of the Sport I presume. This is all about trying to bring down the Board and substitute it with another one with B B at the helm but good luck to him in whatever he does it will be very interesting to see how it all shapes up in the long term

So is this show definitely going ahead the weekend, and who exactly is sanctioning it and are the sanctioning body part of the EBU?

I have just been chatting with promoter Dave Murphy and YES the show will 100% go ahead this weekend.
An announcement is due to made shortly by the sanctioning organisation, until they do I have been asked not to reveal anything.

I would have thought that any credible sanctioning body would have announced that they were sanctioning the show by now How are they going to conduct check weighs etc for the WBF titles when the show is this weekend ? Unless they have already conducted the initial ones of course also they will have to check out all Boxers and officials on the bill so its leaving it a bit fine to say the least IMO

I guess it depends on what you mean be credible - are the BBBofC considered more credible than others ? if so, why ?

Plenty of time for check weights, the board conducted ours on Tuesday for a fight we had on Friday of last week in a British Title eliminator.
I believe the body that will be announced currently sanctions a few hundred shows a year.

I hope that this show is a success. I have no sympathy for the BBBoC, they are a commercially-drive private limited company, they have no credibility as some kind of morale compass in which they can thumb their nose at others. By all accounts their fees are far too high and prohibitive to the small hall shows. If small hall promoters can get a professional service from another body for less fees, good luck to them.

Until the contracts were signed today, it would have been foolhardy for any announcement to be made.
That aside it is official now - and BoxRec have been informed - that the event will be sanctioned by the German Boxing Association (GBA)
The GBA are the second largest Professional Boxing Sanctioning organisation in Europe, second only in size and events sanctioned to the BBBofC.
They have over 250 license holders and have successfully sanctioned over a hundred professional events throughout Europe in the past twelve months. They are recognised by the BBBofC as well as all European organisations, so hopefully there shouldn't be any of the problems for BBBofC license holders taking part in the event as stated when the Luxembourg Boxing Federation were to sanction.
Also, even though it's already been announced, Chris Goodwin versus Oisin Fagan, for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Inter-Continental Lightweight title has been added to the card.

There is a perfectly good pool of officials in the UK, dont think it would make sense to start flying in a load of german referees and judges.

I was at a GBA sanctioned bill in Malta and they flew all the officials in from Germany. Not a cheap exercise!

Thats exactly what I meant if they have to fly them all in from Germany it will cost a fortune is the show being televised to offset the costs involved ?

They dont have any licensed officials here so I presume they will have to fly them in unless they use BBBofc officials I wouldnt think that will happen unless the GBA are members of the EBU that of which I am not sure but lets see what happens

They dont have any licensed officials here so I presume they will have to fly them in unless they use BBBofc officials
