The one thing i really admire about Audley is that fact he kept picking himself up time after time,many fighters couldn't do that.

I can't believe some people still blame Audley the BBC debacle, if somebody offers you £1m for your first 10 fights are you supposed to say "Nah I'll just take a few 100K"

The BBC definitely overpaid Audley (IMO), but that was down to incompetence and a lack of unsderstanding of boxing within the BBC........ gift horse/mouth

Precisely, what's he meant to do turn it down?

It's amazing that after all these years Audley still gets stick for the BBC pulling out of boxing. Had he of gone to a promoter, or 'the' promoter at the time, it would have been the same deal and likely the same opponents, but he would have lost a huge chunk of the money for the deal he did. The BBC were one foot in one foot out with boxing at that stage, if they were genuinely wanting to put boxing on the schedule more regularly they would have done so. Boxing doesn't fit with the BBC anymore, it's as simple as that. The shows are too expensive, they have no repeat value, and BBC don't work by selling commercial advertising.
Wasn't Hennessy on BBC after Audley or was it at the same period?
He then got criticized massively for bringing the WBF title into the equation when Sky was ramming the WBU World title down our throats, and the public were buying into the WBU being a genuine world title.

Interesting that allegedly are an advertising and subscriber funded TV channel that specialises in boxing but they won't commit to basic UK boxing shows showcasing homegrown talent. I guess that is Audley's fault as well.

That would be an amazing career for 99% of boxers.

Well done to Audley and I hope he enjoys his retirement.
