Farhood is awful - he has a poor voice for it.

Howard Cossel hi voice was like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
Always wanted to turn down the sound but I did not want to miss his insane way
of tying a baseball or basketball game from 20 years ago into a relevant boxing point.
The guy was just strange

Did anybody hear that cretin on Showtime who called the Wilder/Stiverne fight? He sounded like he thought he was voicing a cartoon character. How have we gone from the dignified tones of Don Dunphy to this hammy, histrionic babble? How could we sink this low?

I like the one that says things like "Ripping punches from George Foreman". I do not know his name. He was pretty good.

Tim Ryan and Gil Clancy were very underrated. I like them.

I hate Ferdie Pacheco and Marv Albert.

I liked the Tuesday Night Fights announcers like Sean O'Grady and the other guy named Albert.

I definitely do not like Jim Lampley and George Foreman

Loved Barry Tompkins and Al Bernstein. Clancy and Tim Ryan. Of course Don Dunphy. Cosell brough an air of drama to the commentary and on balance I liked him. Reg Gutteridge and Jim Watt were a great duo and of course the late great Harry Carpenter..he didn't need anyone by his side. He was ..The Greatest!!!

I don't think that nobody likes Dan Dierdorf as a boxing announcer. Great NFL lineman, and alsogreat tv color analyst of NFL games, but, as an announcer in boxing?....Mmmmm

Hate Lampley, Kellerman, Sheridan, Rawlings all equally pish.

I really liked Ray Leonard as a commentator. Jamie Moore was good too.

I actually like Foreman and his country strong voice.

Jones Jr. is all right, but is quite stutter-y. Not sure why he's been doing it for so long.

I've noticed that they've even started talking non-stop through the minute break between rounds now at times. The noise is insufferable, isn't it? HBO and Showtime announcers follow a sort of 'pass the baton' model of commentary. They jabber away incessantly, one after another, as if a moment's silence would offend the viewer. I find it distracting rather than informing.

I will go contrary to the thread title, the best:

Don Dunphy

Chick Hearn & Ruben Castillo

Dream Team: Clancy-Bernstein-Tompkins
(Just watch Bernstein's call of Duran v Davey Moore, and Duran v Barkley alongside Gil Clancy)

I started turning off the sound years ago during boxing matches. Kind of like when I watch porn.

The worst fellow by far is the current lead announcer on Showtime. Don't know his name. He speaks as if he is voicing a children's cartoon character. All pantomime and hysterics. I would be ashamed to be caught watching a fight with him speaking as a non-boxing fan walked in the room. It's like he's trying to engage infants.

Lampley is my personal worst but few of them cover themselves in glory. There aren't many Gil and Tim combinations around

I heard Chris Algieri doing colour on bellator kickboxing.

Someone should sign him up, hes a fucken class act and talks in a brilliantly incisive way.
