Think he split from Ronnie Rush his trainer not long after, don't know about the promoter. Can't remember whether he was with Warren or Hearn at the time?tonyevs wrote:I thought I remembered it was some thing like that, the WBO were quite accommodating to the right promoter back then.
Robinson was treated harshly towards the end; didn’t he split with his promoter over this?
Who were the best Welsh Boxers?
If memory serves me correct I believe Steve did split with his promoter after this fight (although I not sure if he was with Hearn or not). Certainly matchroom had the bought the rights to some of his title fights although I can't remember Hearn being at ringside for the Hamed bout.
He definately split with whoever his promoter was because both Hearn and Warren's fights were a shown exclusively to Sky, whereas Robinson's comeback fight (vs Kelton McKenzie) was only shown on HTV Wales.

Robinson vs Davidson was certainly a matchroom show, because Pro-box only delt (deal - not sure if they still broadcast in different countries) with Matchroom shows. Robinson vs Davidson was broadcast on Pro-box.tonyevs wrote:I am not 100% sure again..but I think Robinson was with Warren and then went to a promoter in the north east..it was quite a while ago now.
If memory serves me correct, I do have this feeling that Steve was with FW at the time of the big TV change in 1994. I am sure I remember that Sky guy mention Hamed, Benn and Bruno and then also mentioned Robinson as an afterthought
Definately left his promoter (I think Warren) after the Hamed fight because otherwise his fight with McKenzie would have been on Sky, which is wasn't.
I'm not sure if Robinson was with Hearn during his reinessance vs Matabola, Irwin and Ramerez. The Ramerez fight was on the Hamed vs Ingle undercard, which suggest he was with Barry Hearn.
