love how kell is getting abuse for fighting a guy who was world champ last year......frankie wants to fight no.14 in uk , no.150 in world who goes by the name of pattycake and nobody blinks an eyelid....only on t'internet
First of all "frankie" didn't say he "wanted" that fight, he said it'd be fine! Patterson would handily beat everyone that Gavin has faced so far, with the exception of Vassell, but Gavin's fight with Denton had an "unsatisfactory" ending shall we say so we don't know how that would've finished, I think Patterson would beat Vassell but Denton is physical enough to give most a difficult time!! It's not just about Frankie Gavin & his rise to the top, there aren't many decent options for him at the moment to secure the British title outright, I mearly suggested Patterson as the best of who's left!! Personally I think the Skeete fight would've been decent & too the Patterson fight. What would be wrong with giving an unbeaten youngster a chance against a reigning / defending British champion???

Lets look at it another way, Kell is fighting a man who was stopped by Paulie Malignaggi.

It was a cuts stoppage though wasn't it? He looked sturdy enough v Hatton and he held his nerve well through a pretty big build up and hostile crowd - there are negatives to him as an opponent but to focus only on those is a bit silly - he is a move in the right direction for Brook (at last!)

Gavin/Skeete a good fight for both men, good obviously for Bradley getting a British and Commonwealth fight against a class unbeaten titlist and good for Frankie as Skeetes gonna pose problems with his height, reach and all round awkwardness that Gavins not really faced before,i think Gavin will win well but ive got to agree with the previous posts about it not being the best fight to watch but a necessary one all the same

I'd like to see Gavin in with Lynes in September and win the British outright. Hopefully he can get out again by the end of 2013 and put himself in the picture at world level going into 2014

Much too soon for Skeete.
From my manor too so want him to do well but at this stage of their careers it's a 75 - 25 match up in Gavin's favour.

Frankies right, we went down to the peacock and they both sparred each other and Frank wasn't taken out of 1st gear but that's no dig at Patterson who I rate! Frankie has the tools to do that to most around the world
