I do have perspective. I gave hagler his props for a great first fight. He was a shell of himself after that fight. Thats due to hearns...Agreed or not? This same old same old chin of granet hagler is the boring issue. The man was shot-hearns was still in his prime. Why is it so hard for you guys to see hagler having issues with hearns as a boxer? The man could carve you up and make your face look like pancake batter. Again something hagler had issues with. I think hearns wins a rematch in 86-87 what the hell is wrong with that opinion. It is all speculation what would happen. I just feel hearns had a tremendous 86-87 where hagler declined.

He also fought and won the light heavy title in 86 and roldan for the middle in late 87... Both knockouts. Get your facts straight....

He beat Andries in 86???
And a whopping 8 months after Roldan he was knocked out by Barkley.
You mentioned the time after Hearns and before Hagler signed to fight SRL. Roldan occurred 6 months after the SRL fight.

At least hearns didn't quit the sport and cry like a little bitch when he lost fair and square. True champions are judged by how they respond to their failures.... Way to go hagler. NEXT QUESTION....

He was ranked #1 by all three governing bodies according to the telecast.

Now you're becoming rather trollish. I responded to your points with substance, and you call Hagler names as a retort?

Takes one to know one I guess. Facts are facts. Leonard held the keys. Hagler should have fought Hearns again. Winner to get Leonard. Instead he quit right!?? Or am I wrong there too?

Mugabi had fought plenty of times at middle before Hagler. I suggest you read his record if you wish to verify this. Also note on the Boxrec record the notation after the Hagler bout that he was #1 by all three governing bodies. He hadn't fought at 154 or below since Hard Rock.

Lets change gears:
Can anyone confirm that leonard offered hagler a rematch after hearns turned leonard down for a third fight in 1990?
The story I hear is hearns told leonard he could not make the same catch weight of 162 for the super middle rematch. Leonard then instructed Mike Trainer to make the Hagler rematch. Hagler told Leonard to GW!!
Any truth to that??

According to you he was shot. So shot fighters shouldn't retire?
And your statement about what Hagler should've done is just your opinion. Hagler'd already beaten Hearns and wanted the Leonard super fight that the public obviously was desirous to have, hence the giant purses the two received.

So once hagler lost his tiltle to leonard why not fight hearns if leonard is not interested? Leonard gave hearns a rematch.... And that didnt turn out to well for SRL

You used the word "facts," and some things indeed are. What I pointed out weren't.

8 years and 3 divisions later, yes. Hagler didn't give him a rematch because he retired, he claims due to disgust with boxing after the Leonard decision. He didn't give anyone any matches. Leonard also retired again after Hagler and then came back over a year and a half later.

I said you were correct. Now iI see what I am dealing with. However everyone knew hearns was the real number one contender.....
There are many on this board that will repeat their same argument over and over and over again until they get the answer they want....

You made a factually inaccurate claim which I pointed out; there was no repetition of anything there. Some issues in this thread have been factual and others opinion like many things.

You have to admit walking away like that is a black mark on his character. He had unfinished business.

No, I don't. He had had enough and chose to retire after a great career.

He had a wonderful career. But a true sign of a champion with character is how you respond to failure. Not the best course of action. He lost the fight. Just accept it and move on...this whole I got jobbed is very weak..... SRL had clout too and proved a lot that night... Pretty impressive actually... He should have tipped his cap and asked for the rematch.....

Lot of subjectivity....and lot's of passion......always a volatile mix.
I'll throw in my two cents......I think I'd bet on Hagler in a Hears rematch, and I'm no big Hagler fan at all.
And though he did complain a bit about his last fight, I still think of him overall as a stand up guy.
How do you knock this guy Hagler out? You probably don't. The only guy I think could beat him 3 out of 4 times is Monzon....and Monzon does not KO Hagler. But he does KO Hearns.
Just another opinion...please be civil with your response to my thoughts, I just don't want my feelers hurt. I'm the sensitive sort.
