Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Groves might stink the place out and sneak it. Part of me hopes he does since they have the nerve to put this on PPV.

Froch will be surprised by the power of Groves.

in another forum life, i recall one poster banging on and on about how 'all you need to beat Mayweather is a good gameplan'![]()
thats an extreme and silly example, maybe, but to those of you thinking/assuming Groves has the right gameplan (and I'm not sure the 'usual' smash n grab raid of Team Booth IS the right one, here) surely you have to appreciate what happens to people with gameplans when they get, umm, punched really hard in the face?
the question isn't whether Groves is 'disciplined' enough to 'stick to' the gameplan. I'm sure he'll be running for his life as per Booth's instructions.
the question is, is he good enough and experienced enough to pull it off?
what happens when he's trapped on the ropes? my guess is he gets to experience a little bit of what fvcked Bute's career in the ass.
Groves has no 'gameplan' that will win him this fight. He belongs in the ring with Robert Stieglitz, not Froch.

You seem confused! Best you keep your money under lock and key until this fights over.Ben Carey wrote:Smart money is on Froch, the value undoubtedly is in Groves.
Forget Groves boxing ability, even if he somehow manages to outbox Froch, Froch WILL outman him and KO him. Groves will not see the final bell!
If i'm somehow wrong about that, Froch will take it on points.
Either way, Groves aint winning this fight!
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Don't understand how anyone could think Groves has no chance, Mayweather or the Klitschko's aside, in what other fight between 2 of the top 10 does one fighter have no chance? Froch can be hurt and can be outboxed, that's been shown in the past by Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler and Ward.

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Ward and Dirrell are slicksters, the type that frustrates Froch and the type Groves is not. Taylor is better than Groves will ever be, and Kessler had to go through hell to beat him and was hardly outboxing him, it was toe to toe, nip and tuck and Kessler edged it with a herculean effort in a razor-thin fight. All these guys are sterner propositions than George Groves who has a leaky defence, questionable chin, doesn't really have a win to prove he belongs at world level and has never faced a challenge close to this before.expe wrote:Don't understand how anyone could think Groves has no chance, Mayweather or the Klitschko's aside, in what other fight between 2 of the top 10 does one fighter have no chance? Taylor? You mean Kessler?
I'd personally like to see Groves in with Kessler, that would be a good barometer fight.

My ten pound goes on Groves, I've seen rank outsiders turn an established champion over before.

I dont think you can mistake Taylor and Kessler to be honest.orbtastic wrote:Taylor? You mean Kessler?

I can see Froch getting Sparked.
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
You're reading far too much into my point - I was just conscious there are some people trying to turn this into a boxer vs slugger affair, with Groves cast in the role of boxer, when the fact is that you don't medal in the world champs if you can't box a bit (and Carl's achievements as an am comfortably outshine Groves'). As others have also pointed out on here, his jab is a potent weapon - the game-changer in the Pascal fight was when from around the halfway stage onwards to stopped trying to bang Pascal out and instead started sticking him with the jab and from that point onwards comfortably won the fight.palooka wrote:He boxed quite similar to how he does now though, he's obviously had good physical advantages (garnered through hard training and discipline); it's not as though he used an upright, classical style with a jab and a one two as an amateur and altered his style massively as a pro. I don't think that we'll see a sudden deterioration in his skills or fitness as he is so focused but I think his chin will crack, his defense is not amazing and he has had some serious whacks in his time; they will catch up and Groves hits as hard as anyone in the division.Deserter wrote:I think people forget that Carl was one of our best amateur boxers of recent times - you don't win a world champs bronze and two ABA titles without being able to box a bit.stevieb_8006 wrote:im surprised so many people think groves jab is gona be the difference. carls used the jab brilliantly in the past (vs AA, the last Kessler fight etc). And hes got quite the reach advantage in this 1 I believe.

I can, over the last year Groves has developed His Man Strength. and Fights with improvement, in the Pocket, Plus He can change Range quicker, plus His Posture has improved giving Him a better range of movement and Hitting Harder.Riddick Blowe wrote:...Scrap wrote:I can see Froch getting Sparked.

In normal circumstances I could see what you're getting at. With Froch though you're talking about a guy who has an almost freakish ability to take a punch!Scrap wrote:I can, over the last year Groves has developed His Man Strength. and Fights with improvement, in the Pocket, Plus He can change Range quicker, plus His Posture has improved giving Him a better range of movement and Hitting Harder.Riddick Blowe wrote:...Scrap wrote:I can see Froch getting Sparked.

Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Froch has an elite chin, there is no doubt about it, but people are going on like its impossible to hurt him. Taylor dropped him like a sack of spuds, but perhaps more tellingly, Kessler shook him to his boots in the 11th of their last fight. If Groves catches him with a shot like he hit Smith with, he will go. Wether he gets up again or not is a different question.
Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
I dunno. Froch isnt Smith. Whilst Kessler did rock Froch in the 11th he recovered very quickly. In regards to Taylor, his power is underrated I think. Pavlik only went down once in his career and that was also to Taylor and he'd been in with Miranda when he was in his prime.mickey1975 wrote:Froch has an elite chin, there is no doubt about it, but people are going on like its impossible to hurt him. He may not be Smith, but Smith isn't chinny. That was one of the best shots I have seen. Don't know if it was lucky or not. That would have done for almost anyone.columbo wrote:I dunno. Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Exactly. Most who get hit with Kessler's right hand never recover, so if anything it was further testament to Carl's durability.columbo wrote:I dunno. Froch isnt Smith. Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Yeah, im not sure Groves even hits as hard as Kessler. Groves can punch no doubt but if you look at Kessler's career before he started fighting the elite of the division he was knocking people out in pretty brutal fashion too!Deserter wrote:Exactly. Re: Groves beats Froch all day long
Dirrell hurt him too, so did Bute according to Froch himself.
