i was just thinking of tony and george collins ,they never quite made it but they were some of warrens first stars.

if londonirish is martin power i just want say that i was on a NABC training camp as his coach in about 1991 at newcastle under lyme university , all the young boxers were good but martin was by far the best he boxed with such smothness not like a 13 year old . he had the same last name as my then mrs who came from traveller stock to so he always stuck out to me .
at the time i was about 22 and fighting myself but i was asked by ian irwin to help out with the training and martin was a really nice lad as well as a great boxer.

fornicate!!! sectioned??? that's sad. He seemed the sort that was never gona settle into retirement easily. Hope its not related to any problems from boxing. my mate sent me a link of a fight he did with the ebf in 2009 and I thought he did quite well. Assumed he was plodding along unlicenced.

Great words Macho. That is exactly how he conducts himself in everyday life as well. Even drunk, would never claim he should have won this or that, just says he was fortunate to fight great fighters for the belt.

Monty Wright, Patsy Wright, Mark Baker, Les Stevens, Bobby Frankham and Gary Cooper.

I think Henry Wharton was from a show/ circus travelling background but might be wrong.

Millions of travelling lads in the amateurs they really are part of boxing heritage.

You are wrong. Romany. Harry carpenter used to say travelling showman on the bbc in all Henry's early fights and it drove his family mad.

Your right Micky , Henry is a Uk Romany Gypsy the same as me , and to call us a travelling showman/fairground people is just about the worst insult next to being called gyppo or P1key etc

That's for Irish travellers

Why is it such an insult to be mistaken for 'travelling show people'? Genuine question
