Since signing with Hearn they've given him a social media makeover and tarted up his media perception. So SKY Matchroom shows are sponsored by BetFair and oh look, it's Carl talking about how he likes to play a bit of online poker with BetFair! Fancy that! Oh look, he mentions his wife's twitter account multiple times a day, I wonder why he's doing that? He's interviewed on Talk Sport and he pauses then remembers he's plugging the show on SKY, who happen to have a "relationship" with Talk Sport, and he mentions his promoter's name and then SKY again.

Hearn gets them to use twitter as a promotional vehicle, and they shoehorn sponsors in all the time. Of course, it's nothing new but it's really clumsy and shilly.
has anyone else noticed, i don't know if he still does it, but at one point he seemed unable to simply say 'my girlfriend' or 'Rachel', it was always 'my beautiful girlfriend Rachel Cordingley'

?

Yeah that's what his twitter bio refers to, too.

I'm sure he cries himself to sleep each night and whilst his beautiful @rachcordingly lovingly dries his eyes he switches between @BetFair poker, his @FrochInc property portfolio, his @nottinghambs bank account, sends @EddieHearn a goodnight tweet and settles down to watch some @skysports.

:OhYes:

That's all probably true !

Rachael in reality is a really nice, friendly person - not remotely stuck up and very down to earth. I can see why many would form a negative opinion after being Mic'd up for the Abraham fight, but looking back, we've all cheered our fighter on and said much worse. Especially when that's actually her other half in the ring and not just someone you follow.

indeed, i've yelled myself stupid and made a prat of myself over fighters i didn't even know :TU:

i don't think anyone really begrudges Froch, the more PR type work he puts in at this stage, the more ability he'll have to make a few quid after he reitres.

If my missus looked like Rachel Cordingley I think I would constantly refer to her as well.

Unfortunately she doesn't so I simply refer to my other half as 'that pain in the arse'

Filthy. Does she do you regular with the strap on, or is it just for special occassions?

I do it at football, scuffle breaks out, " KNOCK HIM THE fornicate OUT", their best player has the ball, "SNAP HIM, BREAK HIS fornicating LEGS". We all get caught up in the moment, I just wish she'd be a bit less screechy, it's the voice that gets me.

For someone who criticises my constant question asking you sure know a lot about Froch's personal business.....

He's good with PR, but he isn't massively clued up about boxing for me. He's all about media, everything seems very forced, he likes to use the media to try and build a following. The best way for me is to just go round the pubs and social clubs selling tickets, look good and people will come back and bring mates along with them.

Haha, it worked for Hatton didn't it? It's far easier to sell to someone in person than on the internet or the telly, stick posters about. As much as people on here don't like it for some reason, using football clubs is a good way to build support as well.

It does sound a bit stuck in the 70s but if you look at what he did with Brook after his career had looked to have stalled, he stuck him on arena shows in his hometown - it's fairly basic. I don't live in Sheffield but I imagine that there was a local press/paper/tv/poster/local business PR drive.

Contrast that with what happened with Jamie McDonald, fighting for a world title in an arena in his hometown...it was like a PR Ghost town.

In a couple of months? You really need to read a dictionary for a definition of a couple of months. Good try though buddy :TU:

Boxing shows aren't cheap, most TV shows don't have tickets for less than £40 and people buy drinks and food as well. Most fighters support naturally comes from their hometown, so to ask people to then pay to travel long distances to shows, on top of tickets, food, drinks etc, is asking a lot in the current financial climate.

I see no reason if Froch is trying to milk it a bit. I'd have less respect for him if he didn't. He is a switched on guy who will know the potential money which can be made once his boxing is over.
Good luck to him.
