Yes he was

John WAS in the Parachute Regiment. He told me this himself & I have seen a pic of him in soldier gear from an interview he did a while back. Google it & you may find it. He was in the Paras' 1st battalion (1 Para). I think he quit after injuring himself in a parachute jump if memory serves. He does a lot for injured soldiers and I've seen a few at York Hall thanks to John arranging for them to be there.

Arnie, what did you make of last nights fight? I saw a vid you did with britishboxers.com on youtube and you'd picked Groves to win! Great pick by the way.

I think that McDonald has a good, strong voice, but he draws out the names too much (e.g. Crusaderrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrahdaha) and the way he announces decisions doesn't make it challenging to tell whether the Matchroom fighter will be announced the winner (he is noticeably more upbeat when they have won).

Tries to copy the Buffer style and the accent just doesn't suit it and it tails off horribly, when he does the darts he's brilliant, spot on every time.
