This has basically been my main problem with a lot of what people have been peddling post fight.... Sure Groves was up on the cards and Froch had taken some huge shots, but by the time of the stoppage, not only was Froch closing the gap on the cards, he was clearly starting to get to Groves and the fight was still in the balance.

All I can say is wow, ridiculous.

Commentary - Absolutely ridiculously one-sided, They've picked out Groves as their winner from the opening moments of Round 1. NOTHING Froch did was acknowledged, I've seen this happen before on Sky and it frustrates the life out of me.

Scorecard, here is mine:

Round 1 - Groves 10-8

Round 2 - Groves 10-9
Close round actually, Froch recovered well from the KD and got back into things but Watt/Halling are just ooooooh Groves is soooooo fast and sooooo gooood.

Round 3 Froch 10-9
Close again, this time Froch landing a few decent jabs and power shots, Froch's work again completely ifgnored by the Scottish rat and his sidekick

Round 4 - Groves 10-9
Groves landed some decent power shots and took this round, apparently off some things I read Froch was really wobbled in this round and struggling, so I looked for that and didn't really see anything like that.

Round 5 - Froch 10-9
Clear Froch round, beating Groves to the punch several times, landing jabs and power shots, according to Jim Watt this was REALLY close and the amazing Groves just lost it, Froch's first round on Watt's card and only then given grudgingly.

Round 6 - Groves 10-9
Good round for Groves, landing big shots and getting back to his best type of work in the fight. Cue orgasm from Jim Watt.

Round 7 - Groves 10-9
Another Groves round, but he's starting to look a little bit more tired, starting to plant his feet more and engage with Froch.

Round 8 - Froch 10-9
The round that swung the fight for me, close enough round but Froch starting to land his power more often and hurt Groves, groves starting to look ragged and losing his form.

Round 9
The finishing round, Froch landing power and big, looking mean and surging for a finish, Sky commentating that Groves is ragged, on his way out, then totally change their mind when they realise george has been stopped. A preamture stoppage no doubt, but the Scottish one again can't give Froch much credit.

Overall score going into Round 9
Groves 77-74 Froch

So Groves winning by 3 points going into Round 9, a round which he was losing soundly, so he'd be 2 points ahead with 3 rounds to go IF he'd survived - looking ragged and Froch coming on strong.

Overall conclusion - people have been very harsh to Froch in the aftermath of this one! The one-sided commentary on Sky certainly won't have helped public perceptions.

Commentary in US can be quite good, they usually call the fight a lot more, saying who's landed etc, UK commentary seems to be just pick a side and stick with it and ignore the other guy and anything he lands. Time to get rid of the Scottish blinkered one and his laughable sidekick Halling who offers nothing.
It was fixed just tell it the way it is.
Watching some in British Boxing scrambling to cover it up is just plain shameful.
We got Darren Barker coming up soon, dont worry they have a rematch clause in the contract to fight back in the U.K so you'll be able to fix that one too if it doesnt go your way,

I agree with the majority of your post.
Watt is rubbish, incapable of changing tack and sometimes biased in his commentary. I'd have binned him years ago.

But please stop making reference to his nationality. It has zero relevance to his ability (or lack of) as a commentator.
And as a jock it kind of grates on me that you've repeatedly refered to him as the scottish one/rat/nutcase as if it has any relevance to the point your making

I'm not going to be that arsehole that plays the r..... card. But please dont keep making reference to his nationality, it's got fornicate all to do with it
froch has made a cock of himself throughout last weekends broadcast and i've repeatedly called him a cock on here. At no time has he been an english cock!

hehe sorry for that one maybe I got carried away pointing out his Scottishness, my Grandad was actually Scottish though he died young so I never saw him, and I have some distant family up there so I have no room to talk. It's just Watt's whiny voice that really grates me and I guess yes part of that is his high-pitched Scottish accent which i find grating.

I've got absolutely nowt against Scottish people, most Scots I've met have been down to earth, friendly people who like a laugh and a drink!

Froch is tentative x 50
Froch can't land his jab x 100
ooooh groves that was was class x 1000
This is what i pointed out on the night of the fight and was derided for it. I agree with a lot you are saying. I too noticed that all of Froch's work was ignored, whilst the commentary team, Watt in particular was going way overboard about Groves. I had Groves four rounds ahead when the fight was stoppped and it was a premature finish in my eyes. But as you say, look at Groves' face !! It's clear that Froch was connecting a lot earlier than people realised. The problem is mate, that unlike you, most people call themselves "independants" who just wanted to see a good fight. The reality is that people either wanted Froch to win or Groves, as was the case with the commentary team, who were obviously pro Groves. If you like Froch then you will justfiy the stoppage, play down the beating he took and narrow the scorecards. If you like Groves, the stoppage will be all wrong, he would have out classed Froch all night long and looked invincible and world class to boot, a certain world champion denied by a bent or stupid referee. It's so predictable really lol.

Whaaat? I'm just a fan, I'm not trying to cover anything up, I saw what I saw on the night and am saying what i saw on the night and on the replay.

Yeh, I follow british boxing, I was a groves fan going up to the fight but have followed Froch for years so obviously was swaying towards him to win, I wanted a good fight as much as anyone and was annoyed at the stoppage, all I've asked is a bit more balance in the arguments.

Some people don't seem to be able to view things with any balance, it's just all or nothing.

And that is my point fella, they will be all or nothing because they will have taken sides. However, when you ask them, they are all independents who just wanted a good fight. Boxing is tribal and in the main people have quite a strong emotion as to who they want to win a particular fight. If that wasn't the case, then you would get more balanced views, but you don't because people always favour one fighter more than the other.

I watched this with the sky commentary for the first time last night and would agree that watt was a joke which is a shame as I usually like him. Unlike a lot on here I also have a lot time for Halling but he came across badly as well, as if he simply had to rely on watt for help.

A lot if froch's work was ignored and I think he's been a little disrespected since the fight.

However i still think Carl will look back at the whole thing with regret. He took groves lightly, and didn't give him the respect he was due after the fight.

I won't criticise froch, he has done more than most for British boxing in the modern era and if he chooses to retire or cash out then good luck to him.

If her were to give groves another chance my respect for him would go through the roof regardless of the end result
