Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
He goes back to British/Euro level. No shame in that, he's a good fighter just not quite upto it at world level, I don't think he quite has the hand and foot speed for elite level, he can look a little plodding at times, I've felt that in a few of his fights on the way up.
He can still be involved in some good ding dongs though like Maccarinelli, Cleverly if those fights could be made - politics will probably get in the way though. He needs to be in relevant fights from here on in, the 2 Chilemba fights were a struggle to watch so I'd rather see him in with domestic names than in those sort of fights.

Does Tony sell plenty of tickets in Liverpool ? Can he headline a show at the Echo or Olympia, or would he need to be an undercard fighter ?

Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Tony Bellew has nothing to be ashamed of or to apologise for.
He's a European level fighter, but he's not a world class one & he lost to a world class operator in Stevenson.
If he had bitched out of the fight, Audley Harrison style, I'd have plenty to say about it, but he tried his best & it wasn't enough.
That's all you can ask of any boxer or sports person.
I didn't realise that Bomber Bellew posted on here, but if that really is him that is posting, fair play to him for being honest & showing class in defeat.

Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
He'll box at a decent level and do well, earning decent money he can set aside for when he's done. He'll box for another 3 years tops and he's an intelligent man, he'll have no debt, a wedge in the bank and be in some sort of business as a partner I'd imagine.
Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
It is him and when he's won and looked crap he's been here and held his hand up - he seems to be a different man before a fight and is thoughtful and reflective and honest afterwards; there's better fighters who could really learn something from him.Syntax Error wrote:Tony Bellew has nothing to be ashamed of or to apologise for.

Care to elaborate on that one? Haha. Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
I love a good old domestic fight. Sometimes I find it more exciting then watching the Americans and P4P ect. So I think he should carry on and get some fights back in the UK.
But FFS Bomber, stay away from that Kovalev wallop!

The plan was to take him into the later rounds and capitalise on his fitness levels but he caught me and fair play to him.. He is a good champion and very hard to hit. I apologise to all my friends and family who came out as I didn't do what I thought I was going to do.. I'm sure the arse holes will have there pops but like I said I hide from no one and gave it everything.. Thank you for the support on here too

Well done Tony, really enjoyed the run up to the fight & you went out on your shield there, you took some really good shots there, but there's not many that are going to stand up to that left hook - Kovalev too I reckon.Bomber 1 wrote: Thank you for the support on here too

He reminds me of Ivan Drago from Rocky 4. :P
In a bizarre way, I actually believe that Kovalev -v- Stevenson would a be a cagey 12 rounder.
Both men would be wary of being hit by the other & Stevenson can actually box pretty well.
Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Its almost a cliche but cruiser please.
I think Tony could get up to 190-195 and be an effective force. A couple of domestic level fights where the division seems to be all over the place. Then there are some good fights to be made on the continent which is where the majority of the belts are and the good fighters.
I think its marketable big market across Germany and UK for a fight at 10-11 instead of 5 in the morning and I think Hearn has the contacts to get him a shot at a title. If he wins it depends on how he looks at cruiser

I can see the sentiment but no way do i reckon Kovalev respects anyones power for 12 rounds even if did get buzzed i think it would bring him out his shell even more and he would spark StevensonSyntax Error wrote:Kovalev has unreal power.forcefraser wrote:Went pretty much as I expected it.

Tony Bellew is pretty tall & he is thin looking at 175.
I don't know how he feels about it, but he looks like he could add 10 - 15lb easily & it not affect him.

I wouldnt mind seeing him be put in with Wadi Camacho as his first fight at Cruiser. The guy is crap. I dont know why Eddie bothers with him so much.wrimc wrote:Its almost a cliche but cruiser please.

Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Yeh agree with stepping up a weight, I think TOny would suit it looking at his frame and also allows him to start afresh in some ways, people will pay renewed attention to a fighter stepping up than if he just goes back to domestic level at Light-Heavy.

Rent a gob failed to back his chat again - big surprise.
He has no future at LHW, move to cruiser stop gobbing off then people might like you a bit more Tony.

Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Hit the weights hard and go up to cruiser. Tony has very little muscle definition for a boxer so packing on 25lbs of pure muscle might make him a real banger in a less competitive division.
Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
Not sure if cruiserweight is less competitive in reality! There's a lot of quality fighters campaigning up there and they're naturally bigger fella's aswell so its gonna take some getting used to.Happy Slapper wrote:Hit the weights hard and go up to cruiser. Re: Where does Tony Bellew go from here?
I don't fancy either Bellews or Cleverly's chances against Hernandez, Huck or Wlod really, not that I really follow the division but those are big powerful guys. Tony coated Stevenson off for being little: those guys will be massive. Cruiserweight is a funny division where, in the lower divisions you only have a size disparity of like, half a stone. Whereas from LHW to cruiser it's over a stone and a half.columbo wrote:Not sure if cruiserweight is less competitive in reality! I don't think Tony will make champ but he could crack the top ten and as I have said before there's the Cleverly fight. I think the increase in weight will suit Tony more than Clev to be honest, just based on their body types.
