Personally, if there's a fight I've recorded overnight that I don't want spoiled, I don't check ANYTHING until I've seen it.

Boxrec, Twitter, Facebook, text messages...whatever, I don't look at a single one until I've watched the fight.

That being said, it takes 2 seconds to put a spoiler warning in the title, so I see the argument for flagging spoilers in thread titles just out of courtesy.

But if I didn't want to have a fight spoiled, a boxing forum is the last place I'd visit.

Or if you have lots of friends on Facebook who like boxing would it be an idea not to look at it if you are trying to avoid the result.
Also if you want to watch the match of the day highlights without knowing the scores, it is worth avoiding the back pages of the paper
But then you could lobby papers to but spoilers on their headlines!

I have "spoiler Nazis" only a couple of rungs higher than wife beaters.

If you want to avoid a boxing result, dont go on a boxing forum or boxing website of any kind. Few things get my back up as much as some muppet giving some other guy a hard time after he has logged on to a boxing forum, chosen to go into a thread about the fight who's result he is trying to avoid and then, suprise suprise, he sees the result in the theead. Get real. Are we in nursery school here?

I don't think it should be forced, but it doesn't take long to add 'spoiler' to a title and it would assuage those who complain about having results spoiled.

Then again, I have little sympathy for people who come to a place meant for boxing discussion---where results are also frequently made clear in thread titles--and then complain like they didn't see it coming. If I don't want a result spoiled, I wait until I see the fight and I avoid a site in which discussion of the result will be ubiquitous! TBF I don't think this is about including spoiler info in the actual thread, just in the thread title. Anyone wanting to avoid a fight result that clicks into a thread relating to the fight is a probable future Darwin Award recipient.

Anyone who comes onto a boxing forum and complains about spoilers is a plank. But maybe it's an illness like alcoholism? Can our resident quacks confirm?

Because there are plenty of people who hunt around for the fight or a video, and they wish to avoid the result and watch it somehow. Not just the poor, austerity-struck people who cannot afford sky & BN at £50 a month, but also those abroad where even if they could pay for the fight, they have no TV channel or broker to sell it them legally.

Facebook, twitter - obviously the conversations aren't categorised so they are a sandbox for anyone to write anything to be seen by everyone.

But a forum is structured in a way that it's easily doable. Just dont put the result in the topic thread - is it really that hard ?
