Duce, if you are willing to make up a birth date for this guy why would anyone believe any of your "facts"?

And really, I've been pretty patient, but this anti-Ali stuff is just spam at this point and is ruining this board. In any other forum I've been in basically all of your posts would be removed as spam.

Jewell Akins? Not THE J.A.? Was he named after the singer? Birds and the Bees guy?

I worked with him in Phoenix Az at the ol' Playboy Club there.

Davey,

I've posted every Newspaper Article on Herman 'Bunky' Akins, and you call that 'SPAM'.

If you don't want to believe that he was Born in 1947, then it's your right to not accept it.

I'm trying to get a response from his brother Jewell Akins, to confirm the Date for you.

Jewell graduated from Cal State in May 1969, and signed on as a Free Agent with the Cincinnati Bengals
{AFL Football Team} before the 1969 Training Camp.

As you stated, Jewell was older than Herman, so let's see where this goes........

MERRY CHRISTMAS............

Here is an article {July 18, 1969} - Jewell Akins released by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Note: If Jewell Akins 'graduated' Pasadena High School in 1965, that would make him Age 22 in 1969.

You didn't say "1947" you said 3-22-1947, a date you clearly just made up as you have never once directly answered the question of what your source was.
The fact that you don't understand what is wrong with that is troubling.

All that being said, I'll also bet Bunny was born before 1947.

As for the absurd belief that even if he had knocked him down it would mean something. I have a friend, Frankie Rodriguez, while pitching for the Twins he once struck out Derek Jeter four times in a game. Does that mean he was a better ball player than Jeter? Hell no. And that was in a real game! Not in batting practice which is what a sparring session would be.

I mean it's just ridiculous. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt because I thought you were deep down serious about doing research. But I now see you just make shit up and that frankly you don't care anything at all about these fighters or their lives or scholarship, you only care about continuing to destroy this board with endless hate-filled, racist, anti-Ali spam.
Grow up.

Davey Mac,

Yes.......... March 22, 1947

That's what I found.

Just because you say that it isn't so, doesn't mean it's not correct. There are many gaps to be filled here

You found it where? Where is the document you found that said Herman Akins was born 3-22-47? Where?

One interesting thing that did come out of this. In the search to find out what really was Herman "Bunky" Akins birth date I had to trace most of his family.
They were from Georgia and moved to California circa 1946. The kids seem to have all went to John Muir High School in Pasadena, which is famous because Jackie Robinson went there.

Herman's Mother was Lena Mae Sims and I found her Mother's obit. Her Mother was Amanda McGriff and I was surprised reading the obit because she was born in Cairo, Georgia, which is where Jackie Robinson was born. That seemed like a long coincidence to me and so I read the whole obit, and Amanda McGriff Sims sister was Mallie McGriff Robinson, who is the Mother of Jackie Robinson.

So Bunky's Mother was Jackie Robinson's first cousin, making Bunky a 1st Cousin, once removed of the immortal Jackie Robinson.
