JCS let me ask you this : if Boxing was like every other sport (i.e. not fucked up) and they went to instant replay and determined it was WAY after the bell (which it was) and made the right call and statedd it was a NC how does that make it any different then when they decide to do it a month laterr when the end result will be the same?
No point change versus a month later, which takes points away.

If I don't count the fight in the standings (it ends as an NC).. all the point totals remain the same, right?

If I count the fight in the standings.. all those who pick correctly get points. If I then reverse it a month later, I have to take points away.

Could you imagine if the bookies did the latter? LOL.

Part of it is convenience. I don't get paid for this. Part of it is me not wanting to take away earned points. And part of it is just well... that's the way it is.

I'm not a bookie (duh) but I like to handle it in the same way.

The only fight I let the decision linger on was for Hopkins-Dawson.. because we all knew that was going to be reversed and you can't win by shoulder shrug/throw down. I think some of the books actually refunded bets for that fight. I COULD be wrong about that though..

Whereas Barthelemy/Mendez ended by a late PUNCH, where Mendez was still defending and was at the time, getting his ass kicked.. so it is not like it was some unforeseen outcome that he was going to lose.

Why don't you give points to those who picked Barthelemy and for those who picked Mendez you make it like the fight never happened? (If it in fact becomes a NC).
Because it's run by software and I would have to modify the software to handle this.

Got too busy to run it manually years ago.. it's all automated, except for a few button clicks and creating the fight threads.. updating the schedule.

I have an idea. How about the yearly winner gets a boxrec T-Shirt that says I'm #1? Be a good idea. I don't like the money idea but having a little prize in the end would be pretty cool. But the problem would be who pays for it. For that reason I wouldn't mind not having it

Also if we could get the winner to pose like fighters do with the #1 shirt and send it back and have it on the main page somewhere until the winner of the next season.

That's a good idea.

Probably it'll be hard to oblige all people to donate it but I think it won't be hard to open an account just for pay for the winner's t-shirt and some people will donate it as much as they can and want to :)

JCS,
Just like many other people , I wanted to save time and save the energy by not typing the whole thing, I copied someone Else's pick and I've changed the name of the winner and etc, but I forgot to delete the last couple things. On Peterson's fight, I picked him as the winner of the fight, but you did not give me any credit , shall I take you to supreme court of Washington or should I jump off , of the Golden Gate bridge to earn my justice. :verysad:

What a tool :OhYes:

I'm surprised you got no credit.. typically what I do is give you credit for correct winner and nothing else. Musta been in a bad mood.

I'll look at it.

Indeed, I have not. Too fearful my pick wouldn't count then. Isn't it even in the rules?!? I mean quoting picks? Or better said: writing a comment below your pick which lots of people do?

Can someone explain what scores it has to be for a decision to be close or wide. I'm very confused.

CLOSE = Fight's decision is a split decision, majority decision, or a unanimous decision where the total difference in points are 9 (7 for 10-rounder) or less for the winning fighter.

WIDE = Fight's decision is a unanimous decision where the total difference in points are between 10 and 21 (8 and 17 for 10-rounder) for the winning fighter.

DOMINANT = Fight's decision is a unanimous decision where the total difference in points is 22 (18 for 10-rounder) or more for the winning fighter.
