Anthony Joshua, Frankie Gavin, James Degale (he is nothing like his media persona), Richie Woodhall, Steve Collins, Barry McGuigan, Roberto Duran, Marco Antonio Barrera and Ken Buchanan are the ones that stand out for me.

If I had to choose one as the 'nicest guy in boxing' then I would say it's Joshua.

Nigel Benn was sound when I met him 13 years ago. Ken Buchannan is a great character too.

great guy that spoke quitely .... but he wasn't keen on being called hamilton his real name ...but i didn't argue about it :)

May suprise some but Tyson Fury was quality when I met him on a night out. When I asked him if he was fighting Pulev next he told me it would be Haye or Wladamir.

I know what you mean, I was extremely disappointed when I met Lennox Lewis. However, Duran was better than I expected

I met Lennox at a book signing after the Golota fight. He'd let his charisma have a lie-in that day.

i met holyfield and he was pretty offish considering it was a met holyfield evening , but tim witherspoon was very friendly seemed like a really nice guy .

I'm lucky to know a lot of fighters and some of the other names already mentioned, some quite well, most fighters are good genuine down to earth guys, a few do have big ego's though and ain't has genuine or nice has they come across, a few of them have been mentioned by others on this thread has best people they've met, they obviously don't know them too well then and probably only met them at a dinner show or book signing when there in paid/friendly mode but I've got to say without any doubt, the most honest, decent, nicest boxers I personally know you can meet that the fans will know IMO are:

Stephen/Paul/Callum/Liam smith (genuine down to earth lads, always got time for people & fans)

Anthony crolla (down to earth, polite, genuine, top lad)
Rendall Munroe (down to earth, top lad)

I've met Froch and I was really impressed - zen-like calmness and engaging - a good lad.

Met Witherspoon and ended up having a few beers with him and then onto an indian! class act!! Although it was abit awkward trying to explain what black pudding was (not in the indian but at a Dennis Hobson snr buffet). I saw him about a year later and he came up and remembered me! class.

While I'm name dropping I met George Foreman and he was really kind to my dad which we still chuckle about now and again.

I have been lucky to meet most of my favourite boxers and 99% have been great.

One of my favourites was Junior Witter which might suprise a few people - very kind and had loads of time for us.

Glyn Rhodes is a great bloke and his stable are a great set of lads - they came into the school I work in for me and did an assembly which brought the house down, as has Simeon Cover, Andy Bell and Matt Scriven helped us out at school no end - a class act.

So I think the vast majority of boxers are good eggs - that's what the sport gives you in my opinion, class.

Tim Witherspoon always comes across well in interviews so its good to hear he,s well liked by people who have met him
