Michael Gomez? no offence to anyone, but there's some not nice things in there, no matter how tough you are. Life is messed up ffs........my honest opinion is that you have to be grateful if there's nothing wrong with you.

I read a book about boxers in Manchester called 'Fighting Chance' and Gomez is mentioned quite often and tells his story - he mentions him and a brother being in a flat and this women falls past the window, she has committed suicide by jumping off a balcony; Gomez and his brother go down and pick up the money that has come out of her purse/pockets and go and buy some food from the shop; he has had a very tough time and has a very tough/hard outlook on life.

Jack Dempsey left home at the age of 16, eager to start a better life for himself. Due to lack of money, he frequently had to travel underneath trains and sleep in hobo camps. Desperate for the money, Dempsey would occasionally visit saloons and challenge for fights saying "I can't sing and I can't dance, but I can lick any SOB in the house."

Dempsey also pimped out his woman, regularly, and was known as a ferocious beater of woman. He's a complete douche bag IMO. People who knew him at the time seen him as a very very nasty man.

I'm sure that quote is from John L Sullivan btw.
