its not like Don was taking slaps for £2, we r talking tens if not hundreds of millions.

I have pretty much given up on the book 3 chapters from the end. It becomes incredibly boring when he starts feeling sorry for himself. talk about a victim complex. Hes unbelievably self obsessed.

I drew the line when he started to complain about only driving an escalade now (that's the kind of car you buy for prostitutes...) I immediately thought well u deserve everything u get with that kind of attitude.

He skims over his kids death, u can tell he didn't have much involvement with her.

Regarding the rape, if he didn't do it, he certainly mistreated enough women over the years to warrant jail time.

I read the book a big fan the sort who would stick up him, but came to the conclusion hes actually a bit of a pudendum.

I've gone from thinking he was 100% innocent to having a few doubts. The way he's admitted to how he treated women was awful, he even said he verbally abused a female driver for absolutely no reason. It's clear he had no respect for women, groping them in clubs in front of their husbands etc... and as a feared person probably took advantage of that and people were often too scared to confront him. Yes I think that girl was stupid going to his room but maybe a star struck 18 year old thought she would be safe and left by herself wouldn't have stood much of a chance against him. I guess only they know what really happened but for me the book has been an eye opener.

The Garrison book is interesting, it says more about the prosecutors than it does about Tyson. At one point they say, and I'm paraphrasing from memory, that they wanted to get him for "American and John Wayne".

Also a professional boxer.

Almost finished this book and its a very interesting read.
The way it's written, you can picture Mike there at the time spouting that awful language out of his mouth

But too much drugs, booze and women.... He lost his focus and discipline. Routinely doing coke before big fights? It's no wonder he started to rely on that one big punch rather than his skills in his post prison career

I finished it yesterday. Overall a good read but the constant drug use and orgies got very tiresome to read about. Tyson recounts endless tales of such behaviour and always follows with how ashamed he is of it now, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his current family lifestyle. I hope so and hope he finds peace, it will be tough for him though.

It's ironic that Tyson was seen as the saviour of boxing who wiped out the underachieving, drug-abusing heavies of the 80s, when that is what he quickly became himself.

Onto The Hate Game next.

I really enjoyed the book.

I am too young to remember Tyson in his prime but I find it astonishing to think that as good as he was it seems he didn’t train nearly as hard as he should have done for some fights.

With regards to the book being a bit samey, I did find that a little bit but I think that could have just a fair reflection on what his life was like.

I am a 'fan' of Tyson so maybe I am being a little bias but I think it is hard to imagine what our lives would have been like if we had to walk a mile in his shoes. It is clear he suffers (and seemingly still suffers) with bad depression, assumingly leading from such a turbulent childhood, which is an incredibly complex illness so I do have 'some' sympathy for him.

I do hope he is in a better place now and can move forward with his life being sober and happy.
