I am convinced Froch took his prep lightly and badly underestimated Groves. That won't happen again. Can Froch get better ? - damn sure he can. Can Groves get even better ? - not sure. Game on.

As much as id love to see the rematch i would give Froch a pass if he refused one,he has earned the right to go for bigger names than Groves at this stage in his career,especially if he gets a big fight in the US

Carl only has 4 fights left IMO and he should choose them wisely even if it means he fights George last in a big swansong at Wembley or City Ground that would do for me although i reckon Froch may not be world champ by then but who cares? as long as its scheduled for 12 rounds im not arsed

If i was Groves i would obviously be banging the drum too about a return fight as he deserves but it seems the fights you want dont always happen when you want them if at all

After that last performance there is every chance Froch has already had one too many. He looked crap all night ( not taking away from his ridiculous will and toughness )

I know some will say Groves made him look crap but I think its a mixture of both. Groves was very very good and Froch has lost a little bit.

Apart from the Abraham fight,Carl never really dominates fights,obviously he destroyed Bute and Mack before the halfway stage but he has a habit of making 12 rounders tough,Dirrell,Taylor and Johnson come to mind but Froch is just so darn tough he always finds a way to win which he looked like doing anyway before the premature stoppage so no change there really IMO

But i will concurr that the end is in sight,surely all these wars cant not have an effect at his age regardless if he keeps himself in shape

Froch never takes his prep lightly, that assertion is ludicrous. He was clearly in tip top shape otherwise he would never have walked through all those big shots in the first 4=5 rounds.

He may have underestimated Groves, but no way did he skimp on his preparation physically.

I think that in a rematch he will definitely know what to expect.

I honestly think that in a rematch, Groves will have a far harder time. Carl knows he can take Groves best shots, and come through, and can also get a far better start than first time.

Wembley sucks as a venue for boxing, difficult to get to, middle of nowhere, impossible to get home from. Last time I went to a fight there, I stood waiting for a night bus for hours, and got home about 3 a.m.

No way would it be held at Wembley, and even more certainly not the stadium.

Wembley is a non starter. These guys ain't Chavez and this isn't Mexico. You could fit 120,000+ people into Wembley stadium!

James, not sure if you heard Robert McCraken on Sky Sports News the following week. It was interesting. He was stating that Carl has been a champion for so long, every champion has a time in which they might not have been on their a game and maybe this was Carl's time.

Whilst he did state that Carl trained hard, he did hint that maybe it wasn't the greatest camp he's ever had and maybe he was off his game.

Got to agree. Froch wasn't exactly hard to hit previously but in the Groves fight he was hit hard and consistently and outjabbed which is a worry.

Froch looked crap because he was badly hurt from the start. After the knockdown George teed off on him and kept him dizzy, but was unable to finish him. I seen Carls balance and strength return in the 6th and he was fine by end of 7th. Groves couldn't take a third of what Carl took. Froch was full steam ahead by the 9th and Groves was looking terrible and on the way to a knockdown when the stoppage occurred. If we had got to see more I'm sure Carl Froch would have been vindicated. He's been the biggest loser after that horrible stoppage. No way Groves survives till the end, there was much more to come from Froch and Groves turned his back at first sign of real trouble.

I agree with this. Groves comes out of it as if he's still unbeaten even though he was seconds away from a genuine stoppage. Whereas Froch comes out of it a villain even though he came back from an incredible knock down and multiple more flush punches to come on strong in the second half of the fight. I think sometimes people feel like there has to be a villain when really both should have been applauded and cheered out of that ring, booing Froch was digusting after how deep he dug to win! And as Hearn mentioned, the boos started before Carl even opened his mouth and it felt at the time like is was the majority of the arena booing not a small portion.

I think I remember that Groves didn't have the easiest of camps either.

I think Groves speed bothered Froch quite a bit, but I would have to conceed that Froch is someone who likes things done in a certain way, and if his prep hasn't been as he would have liked, then that would affect him.

There are so many unaswered questions that a rematch is a must. I hope it happens.

I agree though, George didn't have a great camp with all the court stuff and changing management and training team. It might be why he had gassed by the 9th round.

Watch the fight back & you'll see froch couldn't even see the right hand counters coming it was target practice for groves, I was shocked & like everyone else couldn't predict that dominance.
