The praise for GGG seems way over the top. Again in modern boxing, another world champion with 5, 6 defences and people are still asking 'can he take a punch?', 'what will happen if someone fights back?' It's absurd.

He looks fun but fighting second raters so far and getting heaps of praise for doing so.

I mean, he doesn't make me throw my hands up aghast at the state of modern boxing, but I do wonder about those who are desperate to lavish praise upon him.

Think about it: if anyone else had held a strap for a few years but one top ten contender were all they had faced, wouldn't questions be raised by this? Why yet another obscure light-middle?

Of course, he could be Ivan Drago mated with the Terminator, which is what his nut-huggers seem to think. Let him do one of his walking-down jobs on Quillin if he is, or Strum. Then get back to me...

Did you see his fight with Curtis Stevens? Stevens may fall a little short at the top level but he can truely hit with the left hook and he caught GGG flush a few times with it and he didnt even budge.

Golovkin would destroy Sturm. Quillin would be a more interesting affair.

i rate golovkin, I think he'll do big things when he gets bigger names.

this kind of fight is basically the kind of non title fight james toney was having when holding the IBF title in the early '90s. nowadays they fight these stay busy fights for the title.

think the more offence the opponent brings the better golovkin will fight.

I don't rate quillin that highly. his workrate isn't impressive at all. he picks shots very well but is extremely one paced. i

I'd agree with this, in all honesty, despite me getting a bit of stirring in. A step below the proper elite, like, but around abouts at the tier below.

I think he's some way below them, he's never really beaten anyone and he's lost and been stopped by some very average fighters.

It wasnt a great fight in terms of competiveness. The problem is though that Golovkin cant seem to get the other guys in the ring! I dont think it's through lack of trying.

Maybe im being a little unfair on Murray. I'd probably put him above Stevens. I dont see Macklin being much above Stevens though.
