Crolla has faced better opponents I'm not denying that but both are looking to get a British title at their respected weights.. Crolla could be fighting Coyle in Hull rather than Simpson in Glasgow.. I'm quite positive Al Hamidi and Abdul Rashid 2 fighters who have been in with both would say that Ronnie was better.. My point is Crolla has had a reputation built from losing and drawing with Derry Mathews. He got a bit of Sky exposure which people now think he is better than he is.

End of the day styles make fights.. Crolla will outbox Simpson and be the much bigger man. Keep moving and win a wide points unless John can catch him.. If Simpson fought Ronnie it would be toe to toes and the best chin would win. Fans prefer fights like that. But I'm guessing John will be getting good money to basically lose..
reason ppl think rees won is probably because they wanted him to win, took notice of his work & not crolla's, and overlooked the off balance slappy shots rees was throwing - slappy because crolla kept him off balance in a subtly smart performance, in display of improving tactical boxing ability. also, due to crolla's wars with Matthews (1st), Farrell, sykes (1st), Watson & morris, ppl's expectations of face first body punching has left crolla misunderstood. thank fvck sense prevailed, and 2 of the 3 judges went for him.

when crolla is able to continue his development and integrate the heavy hitting with the smart boxing, I feel people will believe he is ready for WBO champ ricky burns.

I felt crolla's rematch draw with derry was a very fair result. to compare with a match at the highest level, it was like Barrera's attempt at revenge vs junior jones, who had beaten him before the halfway mark in a previous fight. part of the performance was smart boxing, part survival, part digging in & the balance wasn't perfect. neither barrera nor crolla quite got the win, in fascinating, anti-climatic fights (that sent barrera toward his very best work, as it may do with crolla).
When's he ever been heavy hitting?! Lol
the body shots are heavy, the right that put Watson away was heavy - but you have a point, with crolla it's the accumulation of well turned over shots.

if it's been taken that I was passing him off as a lightweight George foreman, my humblest of apologies are in order!

I don't think John should have taken the fight in all honesty, really he should be fighting at super feather or featherweight, but his willingness to fight anyone, anywhere, has at times for me held him back in his career and at 30 he should be being moved towards a European title fight, but at his best he's fully capable of beating Crolla.

I do worry about Hearn's plans for Crolla, because they seem to involve a fight with Ricky Burns in the summer and that would be a huge step back for Ricky if he beats Crawford, he should be looking for unification fights, not beating up Anthony Crolla.

As for the suggestion that Ronnie Clark and Anthony Crolla are on the same level, I know he's your brother David, but take a step back and look at things realistically. Crolla was British champion, twice English champion and now WBO Inter-Continental champion and top 15 in the world, he's beaten Morris, Watson, Limond, Rees, Farrell and Foster Jr and been in with Sykes and Mathews. Yes, he was beaten by Al Hamidi early on in his career and by Sykes, who it's worth remembering was British champion himself, stopped by Derry who's capable of doing that to anyone on his night, but there's no denying that he's proved himself to be at the very least a top domestic level fighter and possibly European level. On the other hand, as much as you talk Ronnie up, his best win is 78-75 against Dougie Curran over eight 2 minute rounds, the two just don't compare.
I was just fishing for bites earlier with those comments seemed to work.. A few little fish came out to play!! As for Crolla making Super Feather if he could he would.. Billy has said on numerous occasions that John should fight at Super Bantam!! We will see what happens with the fight!! Every part of me wants Simpson to win but I will be betting on Crolla stoppage!! Anyway Ronnie would stop both them

Crolla is very well schooled and he doesn't swing away, he gets plenty into his punches but he doesn't put himself in harms way in order to land a big shot; he could do a 'how to box' dvd - his heavier shots are set up properly and are not thrown with hope.

There's more money and bigger fights at lightweight for Crolla, no real reason for him to go down in weight when unless he comes up against a huge lightweight the size difference isn't too big to cope with. Like I said earlier, I think Billy means Super Featherweight, Featherweight would be a struggle for John at this stage of his career, let alone Super Bantam. I see the fishing rod is out again with the last sentence, I'm sure you'll get a few bites with that one.

Crolla is weight drained at Super Feather.. John is a relatively small featherweight!! Billy I'm sure will admit himself he wanted John at Super Bantam. Could he make it deffo.. Does he want to probably not. There is 7 or 8 fights for Crolla at lightweight that are bigger than this one. I think Eddie sees this as a easy fight and builds up a Scotland v England Match with Ricky Burns to avenge John's loss.. Proof will be come March 1st..

Stylistically this could be a very good fight
Billy this is set so if Ricky wins or loses he will fight Crolla. This is just positioning. John isn't exactly ripped at 9 stone 4 how is he going to be at 10 stone 2lbs?? Judging by the Coyle fight not in the best condition.. You can say what you want but you think that Simpson should fight at Super Bantam and you have him fighting at lightweight.. Crolla isn't exactly huge but neither was Coyle and he looked 2-3 sizes above Simpson.. Crolla is experienced he will put at least a 14 - 20lbs after the weigh in. Can't kid a kidder Billy boy!!
When Ricky beats Crawford I'd be very very disappointed if we were asked to fight Anthony(with respect) Ricky needs and totally deserves a unification fight or move up for a big fight at LWW

Well when Simpson loses will you put him in with Ronnie? As they say put your money where your mouth is!! Maybe that's a bad idea though your mouth is quite close to your arse but you get what I'm saying.. In my opinion I think Ronnie would stop both at Super Feather. He hits a lot harder than both and has a very good chin but it's all opinions until the fights happen

We are right behind the "YES" campaign why do you think there has been such a swing towards Yes.. What's the point in having threads if they are not about Ronnie?? That's just boring!!

I seen a lot of Ronnie's training / sparring when he was in with Norrie and Tony in paisley with Stephen Russel and the Mcilorys etc. I know hes got ability and would like to see him get bigger fights but some of the names you are shouting out are a step too far at this stage.

Everyone backs there man, its what a forum is about, Opinions, debates. From my point of view I love Simpson but cant help but feel hes mismanaged whether he just in it for extra cash or what I dont know. Regarding Simpson v Clark , Simpson wouldnt hurt Ronnie and I cant say the same for Ronnie with Simpson, Ronnie a very good body puncher which coyle used effectively. That was a good few years ago Ronnie has come on leaps and bounds. As for the people I'm saying he would be I honestly don't know if he could or couldn't but I have seen a lot of the 2. 1) John Simpson likes to fight on the front foot push fighters back is strong with a good chin if I compare flag fight against Ronnie the winner is the one that goes backwards. John is a little weak to the body and Ronnie is a good body puncher. I stick by the best chin wins and I would back Ronnie who's never even been rocked or down in all his fight Kickboxing or boxing. 2) Anthony Crolla - he's a different fighter at lightweight to what he is a super feather. I think it gives him more strength and power. At lightweight I would probably fancy Crolla to win but Ronnie would have a punchers chance. Crolla would need to stay switched on and out box him for the rounds. At Super Feather Ronnie would walk through him. His lack of snap in his punches would be the problem in my eyes.. I think that's my reasoning but at the end of the day the 3 of them are just human they all bleed just like you and me. I know Ronnie would be happy fighting either at Super Feather

John Simpson's weak to the body are you forgetting the spar with Appleby when Ronnie nearly touched down twice with body shot, kettle pot black Davie.
Bottom line is ronnie thus far is a good average pro and until he actually achieves something like Crolla or John we simply can't talk in the same sentence as them
