Lol, you guys are crazy, Khan is is faster, is looking powerful, his defense is wicked now, he is with a great trainer developing new skills, wow, amazing, he even has had a steel chin implanted and new specially designed bionic fists by the US military but he will still get ko'ed, lol you guys are funny.

Collazo is a big (has fought as high as middleweight in non-title fights), tough, clever welterweight who made it competitive against Mosely even when losing nearly every round and took a prime Hatton to the brink. He isn't a big puncher, but then against Khan he doesn't need to be. If he hasn't slipped too far, he'll just have too much of everything for Khan over the 12 round distance.

i watched khans last fight, and for all the supposed talent he has, he struggled to look convincing against diaz. the sad thing about khan is that he is too immature to put his superior physical attributes to good use. by the time he finally begins to see the full picture, his advantages will be diminished. he might learn to fight smart , but his speed will have gone. i thought that the way he beat kotelnik was the perfect mode for progress, but time and time again he has been drawn into slugging matches when it wasnt necessary. thats ok when you are fighting the likes of malignaggi, molina, and the ageing and past it.....but when you are fighting someone with a bit of craft and a dig, its like giving them free hits. khan has the tools to box rings round collazo all night, but he wont. he'll be drawn into the fight at some point, and begin to unravel ...as he usually does. this time it will be against a big strong welter who is still reasonably close to his prime.

It's not completely impossible for Khan to beat Collazo.

But there the factors for me are:-

1) Khan was all set for Mayweather, and now he is on the undercard against someone "Hatton beat years ago." and "not on his level"
2) True 147 and not a catchweight
3) Dropped heavy and shaken to his boots often in his last fight at 143lb
4) Safety-first style has crept in, offence looking poor because of it.
5) New weight class under arguably new team both inside and outside the ring
6) Consider by some as possibly on the slide, Sheffield half full for 'Homecoming', not the draw that GBP envisaged
7) Questionable personal life circus affecting performance
8 ) Needs to make a statement, could be worst mistake of career to date he could make.

OR

1) Will train harder than ever, to secure Mayweather fight that was in his grasp
2) Will be more resilient at the higher weight, better power and can take a shot
3) Dropped heavy in last fight, mistakes learned and addressed
4) Style been worked on constantly whilst absent from spotlight
5) New team better
6) Cant argue
7) Cant argue
8 ) Needs to make a statement, could be best performance of his career

On Collazo's side:-

1) Poor and unmotivated performances occurred on tough, badly paying Wednesday night shows because he was in the "Who Needs Him" bogeyman club
2) Now has arguably his biggest stage to fight on to date, and as always with Collazo - the better the opportunity, the better he trains and fights (See Berto, Hatton etc)
3) Hungry and still works for a living, has not made the money that his peers has.
4) Superb knockout of Ortiz last fight, looking good
5) Beating Khan could see bigger things in the future, maybe even Mayweather / Broner type big payday etc.
6) Local to Barclay Centre for future appearances for GBP, Homegrown U.S. fighter , no baggage
7) Natural Welter, fills out to Middleweight size on the night, dwarfed Ortiz
8 ) Awkward and cagey southpaw, lots of experience, good chin, picks his punches well. Badly hurt Hatton in final round, plenty enough power to stop Khan

You have to pick the main ones from the above. My conclusion is that Collazo is hungrier and wants that big money that so far has eluded him. He is bigger, stronger, more intelligent and has a better chin. Whereas Amir is looking down on Collazo, disappointed about Floyd falling through and that will tell in his performance on the night. Collazo will want it more - and knowing Khan's punch resistance difficulties, he will not be messing around in there for the judges to stiff him.

I agree with Gomez in that I think Amir is immature and deluded enough to see Collazo as 'not in his class' and overlook him because of it.

Collazo by stoppage looks very likely to me. "MIGHT THROW IT IN AN ACCUMULATOR!"

Great post this one. I think Khan has the attributes to be one of the best fighters in the world. I know that will go down like a lead balloon here but everytime I watch him fight he pretty much out boxes whoever he is fighting but the second he gets slightly tagged starts thinking he is Hulk Hogan and wants to get involved in a brawl. If he had the intelligence and composure to know he is gonna get caught but he doesn't have to swing wildly in response he will easily win this fight. The time off should help him massively I think actually, he is only young still despite his numerous fights and I hope he can learn from his mistakes. Only time will tell when he gets caught with that first dig but I hope he can box clever without diminishing his awesome hand speed. Should be a great fight and I hope Khan can get himself right mentally for this one.

Khan has no chin and he gets hit too easily. Let's not over-rate the guy, some of the posts here saying he has all the attributes etc etc are a bit off the mark. I'm afraid the one key attribute ANY boxer needs is the ability to take the odd shot.

At the top level you will never completely outbox anyone, you will never go a whole fight without having to take something back off the other guy. Look at Mayweather, he doesn't get hit much at all but he still takes the odd shot flush and takes a shot well, have Floyd's legs ever gone to jelly like Khan's do every time he gets hit clean?

Chin = key attribute
Khan = not got one

Simple as that for me. The rest is just waffle. With Khan, no matter who he's in with, it's just will he get caught clean or not, you can't go through a pro career like that and expect to be seen as one of the best. I expect Collazo to chin him.

funnily enough i think the kind of gameplan Khan used vs Kotelnik- another guy who Like Collazo isn't the quickest on his feet and doesn't seem a natural at cutting the ring off- would be the right gameplan here

question is whether Khan can do that in'n'out thing against a very canny southpaw who's much bigger and stronger than Kotelnik

The first odds are in guys. BetVictor have done some winner market odds:

Amir Khan 1/7
Luis Collazo 5/1

Wow!!! Can't wait for the other markets to come out.

Tried to drop £5,000 on for the £30,000 return , max it would allow was £500 and then made me accept £500 at 7/2 for the £2250 (Betvictor)

Bookie 101 behaviour. Put on an attractive price then bitch out and don't let people take it. Incredible that they slashed the price so much too. Some VC trader who doesn't know what he's doing is probably in trouble here. It's why no bookie ever wants to be the first in with a price for a fight like this (in a sport like this).

Wonder if they would have taken the bet over the phone?

Anyway Good luck, makes me miss the high roller days :salut:

Khan seems too obsessed with the Mayweather bout and still hurting over being overlooked in favour of Maidana, he could slip up here.

As someone mentioned has poor ring IQ. Always willing to abandon his boxing skills to slug it out will always lead to his downfall it seems.

Collazo is no world beater, a solid pro but beating the version of Diaz that Khan struggled with is not great form for winning this fight. That 7/2 will no doubt hit 3's soon.

Rule number 1: always get your own bets on before announcing a good price on a boxing forum!

Guess what, I broke rule number 1.

Cannot believe some poor misguided saps still cite the Andreas Kotelnik fight as the blueprint for how Khan should box all his fights. Wake up scum, Khan will never again find such a small, timid, defensive-minded 'name' opponent who comes to the ring without a punch or an idea of how to come forward.

There's a reason Khan & everyone else called Kotelnik the 'worst world champion in boxing' and it wasn't for his ability to lunge out with lightning flurries of deathblow punches. Anyone who thinks Collazo will hide behind his guard and passively watch Khan outpoint him like Kotelnik did is insane.

Kotelnik took Alexander in my eyes, he certainly wasn't anywhere near as poor as your making him out to be. His style was simply all wrong for Khan.
