exactly, boxing fans are so unbelievably elitist. they moan like fukk that "boxing is dying", then whinge when any attempt is actually made to draw in the casuals. Trainspotter mentality.

I'd like to see the sport lighten up a bit, we could see an end to all the "I bet you've never even boxed a round..." comments then.

Agree 100%, boxing isn't dying, it's changing, which isn't always a bad thing.

I understand that some people are for celebrities coming on to boxing shows; I'm against it unless they have something to contribute beyond being flavour of the month on a soap opera. Boxing coverage on SKY is not so good and Ringside is the only regular boxing program - aren't there enough chat shows and cookery programs for celebrities to go on to 'push their brand'?

Exactly. It's a joke Dyer got air time on a boxing show. Ringside has been dire for a while now though anyway.

Perhaps Sky were trying to go the Soccer AM route, bringing in "celebs" to attract casual viewers or fans of that person.

To be fair, it's not a bad plan.

Gordon Ramsey would be a good shout, he's attended plenty of shows.

If SKY want to attract casual fans they ought to show more boxing, have more boxing themed shows and scrap the PPV - they don't mess the football fans about with it.

IMO SKY have made it difficult to be a casual fan of boxing - they ought to look at what has been done at SKY the last few years instead of getting a lying jock chef on to ham it up with a professional cockney wide boy. (Rant over).

But how many casuals will tune on a week evening? Or even bother to record it? People will tune in when they have big fights but Sky don't have enough of them. Outside of Froch Groves theres not a lot going on big time wise. BN have Mayweather, Pacquiao etc.

I dont regard Mayweather fighting Marcos Maidana as even a c-level fight. Would Maidana stand a chance against Canelo ? of course not - and there you go.

Pac vs Bradley, can't say I'm remotely arsed about that one either I'm afraid.

Dont get me wrong DBF, I'm pleased that UK television is airing them - but I dont see the UK masses giving a hoot about those two fights in comparison to Froch Groves II at Wembley.

You're right there but a Mayweather bout is important to the sport; he is brilliant and is the best P4P in the game. Maidana hasn't much of a shout but no one at welter or light middle has.

A Manny fight is big news and Bradley was in a tremendous scrap with Provodnikov - it'll be a good fight on Sunday morning and I'll be up for it.

The casual fans are mainly football fans who support the fighter as he's from their area, that's it. Froch v Groves 2 is a good bout as they're well matched.

(I read the Marvin Hagler biography this week; the tickets for that one at Caesers Palace sold out in a month! Imagine that, not 18 minutes - a month. How times have changed with the touts etc).

It's off topic but after beating Broner, who in some peoples eyes was Floyd's successor, Maidana has as much chance as anyone available to fight Floyd except maybe Lara.

How many tune in now?? surely it will help get more casuals involved if there are names on the show that they recognise?
