Did Ortiz really look hurt enough NOT to have continued?

He diesnt like being hit, thought it was going to be an easy night, and left the building at the first sign of trouble.... something Amir certainly wont do.

AK is up there with Carl Froch in terms of excitement he has provided in his career. he's a mouthy little twerp but put him in a ring and he provides the goods.
Ortiz was finished after Mayweather and yes when the going gets tough he gets going, Maidana, Mayweather, when he was in front and his jaw was broken(not like Burns ) and Collazo, he could have continued in all of them.

I'm not sure how we can say a genuine two belt holder (e.g. beat the fighters in the ring, not awarded something) didn't beat fighter "near" the top.

Who could Khan have fought around the time of the Peterson/Garcia fight that was closer to the top that he avoided?

I think Judah was a hell of a lot closer to the #1 at Light Welter at the time of the fight than Collazo is at Welter currently.
The only top notch he did not face in his division was Bradley, because Bradley would not fight him and instead moved up to be a welter.
I don't think Bradley would have said no outright, i mean AK, Tim & Alexander were almost neck and neck between top dog at that point and bradley had no trouble going in with DA.
Styles make fights, Khan style was all wrong for Bradley, Bradley was being smart, he wanted the big money in future fights at welter, Alexander just does not punch that hard, Bradley knew he could walk through him, fighting Khan would have been for all the belts, but he went for a non title fight at welter, yes he did not fancy the speed of Khan and it was a wise move because he has had some big fights since.

transcends idiotism, do you know what you are writing, nobody said fear, why would not someone want to fight Marquez and Pacman, big money, big fights, I bet he did not know how big a puncher Prov was, until he stepped in the ring with him, everyone felt the same afterwards, why am I even answering such silly comments I don't know, but there you go.

This is a strange choice of opponent for Khan, he could get himself in there with many bigger names if he wished but has chosen a potential banana skin. If Khan loses this I can see him becoming a more dangerous version of Paulie Malinaggi. (A fighter who keeps getting big fights as the underdog)

Khan just needs to take fewer risks, be less macho… He’s a top talent. He’s had a long time with his new coach but his instincts will remain the same.

It’s an intriguing fight. I see why some tip Collazo. But a disciplined Khan should take this. But he should go into this fight treating it as a 12 rounds points win.

The only way Collazo wins is if Khan messes up. This thread if typical of all Khan threads, highlighting his flaws and totally overlooking all his opponent's flaws.
It has been seven years since Collazo boxed Hatton and he hasn't set the world on fire. Can't read too much into the Ortiz fight because Ortiz basically quit. He doesn't have the speed to live with Khan unless Khan really has gone backwards. Having spent a year working on his defence, you would hope some of that has sunk in.

If you define Khan 'messing up' as being walked down, being unable to hurt his opponent and gradually shipping more and more shots until he gets dropped multiple times and stopped by the ref, then yeah I guess he will 'mess up'.

When you are as flawed as Amir, sometimes his opponent's flaws don't matter so much. Collazo is a tough, big welterweight, an all-round solid fighter who has shown little signs of decline since he beat Hatton in many people's eyes. Khan has no history at the weight and is proven to be frail. 'Not having the speed to live with Khan' is a giant headscratcher of a missing the point of an ass backwards of an assessment. Khan's speed only matters when he can see the fight out and he can only see the fight out against smaller guys/guys who can't fight back/guys with desire/workrate problems. He doesn't have the power to stop decent guys and he doesn't have the constitution to last with them. Collazo is going to beat him down.

This is a good bout for Khan; Collazo isn't a massive hitter and is pretty slow. I think Khan will look good winning and he hits hard enough to really rattle Luis.

"If" . . . "unless" . . . "hope" . . .

You're not screaming confidence in your man here.

Like you've been in camp with Luis Collazo. Life's about ifs and buts. The screaming confidence of some in a Collazo win is completely baffling

Khan could look really good here but even if he does, the haters will come up with all sorts of negatives. I'm far from Khan's biggest fan but find myself defending him sometimes due to the crazy amount of hate he gets. He's talented, fast, and flawed, which makes him one of the most exciting boxers in boxing currently. He clearly wants to fight the best and has a very good CV already for 27. Yeah he says some deluded stuff but big deal, not everyone is going to have Ricky Hatton's wit and charisma! Hope he comes through this weekend impressively.
