Personally was a little disappointed by the actual super 8 tournament, especially some of the judges scores..... Meehan ended up fighting a great semi final and then knocking out Sprott (who was by far the tournaments best boxer on the night). But how he got the decision versus Hunter Sam? Wow, he didn't win a round. Bryce Ritna Coe's decision over Butler was possibly worse. I thought Rahman looked very old, maybe his performance was bad enough to entice David Tua back in the ring (not sure how many would pay to see it though).
The undercard was cracking though, was p1ssed off that even though the first fight was due on at 7, I missed it even though I got there at 6.50. Apparently Asher Derbyshire got stopped in 3.
Sam Rapira was superb, as was Joe Blackbourn, Hemi Ahio stole the show though beating Will Quarrie, I reckon he would have won the super 8 tonight, if he'd been in it. Certainly one for the future of NZ heavyweight boxing.
Haven't seen the fights yet, but someone over at the Current Scene had Meehan beating Sam.
and it seems on this forum too,

. Are the scores for this fight top secret? I really would like to know them, and which judges?

Meehan just got better each fight though the night, i was there and would easy score the fight for kali, he outworked hunter sam each round. Funny the crowd didnt seem to know who kali was but they know him now. Antz rocked hasim a couple times. The americans are a dissapointment they just didnt do much as in they dont punch enough. Hows a 300lbs big solid butler play counter puncher for three rounds and think hes ganna win while getting walked down by brice.

I had Butler winning all 3 rounds as well. Did you manage to see the first fight with Asher Derbyshire?

Yeah sure did , i said to my brother in round one watch the overhand right, that lawrence will ko this guy , asher jus kept that left hand down though out the whole fight, he took heaps of overhand rights then the straights started finding a home and after a bit the left hook started to land. Asher landed a few because he was quiker and they he has ok power, but at the end of 3 he was out on his feet ref jumped in. Lawrence is a decent pro looked in reaso shape a bit tubby i could see him figure this guy out after each round he started to put some more punches togeather . 40 odd fight to 3 so go figure. I wonder what the corner was telling him cause he had his hands real low from the start and lawrence landed the overhand reapeatedly in round one.

Cheers for the report, when I found out this fight was happening I was looking forward to it. Gutted I missed it, the only way you can get experience is by fighting. It's a shame Asher got stopped because he was mean't to fight Thomas Meads at boxing central gym by the prison in a couple of weeks and he won't be allowed to now.

I was impressed by hemi ahio also, he moves like a smaller man real fluid and got some guns and nuts to go with it, if he were a bit bigger he be a complete package. Was a good fight. Blackmores ko mean.

Yep plenty of interesting domestic fights available for Ahio. It's good to see boxing actually on the news every other night. I hope they put together a good undercard for Parker/Min to. I guess Berridge will be on, going by Duco's recent shows there'll be a few farcical 'bouts' on it though. God only knows what sh1t there'll have this time. Shame all the good work done over the last two shows in recent weeks will be undone no doubt by these clowns.
