meh i quite liked Il Duce and granberry for that matter.... messing with the database is a big no-no though.... the editors have put in countless hours of their own time to continuously update records.... its a luxury that im sure most of us take for granted... myself included

He posted made up rubbish. Why would you even think he had a "private library"

He was quite interesting, in the way that most loonies are quite interesting.

To some, this may leave hope that he was indeed correct.
Also....the best game he played (in my opinion) was how he interlaced truth with fiction. (Within his forum contributions)
Seriously, did no one else notice his love of this particular technique of writing?
Yes, of course the "truth with fiction" style was noticed.
Others may refer to it as taking "artistic license."
That helped make some of his stuff hilarious.
He did bring up some names and information from my favorite '60s and '70s era that I had either forgot about or never knew.
On one of the threads (the Leotis thread, I think), I believe I asked the name of a fighter in a photo standing next to two famous fighters. He identified the name right away and I checked it out in the record section and sure enough he was right.
He did know more than what some people are saying, imo.
Maybe, but when you mix your knowledge in with large piles of bullsh*t nobody's gonna care to sift through the sh*t to find the nuggets of truth in there.

The quotes were hilarious. He had Joe Frazier sounding like Stephen Fry.

Duce may have been more on the wind up than sheer evil.

I wonder what "scorpio" will do now to find out about certain fighters, their left jab, right cross, left hooks, stamina, footwork, ring generalship etc
Nah in all seriousness,Duce was clearly dedicated and knew a fair bit but if he was obsessed with making up lies then why didnt he just start a seperate thread where it's all fiction played out like a soap opera involving all the old time fighters, then at least that way its not offensive to boxer's true achievements,as long as he stated it was fiction then everyones happy, duce can spout his drivel and if anyone isn't interested in that sort of thing then they dont read it

Il Duce is banned and bnovelist gets to stay? WTF?!
Did they have to delete his posts to?! There was so much entertainment there. I wouldn't want him editing the boxrec database, but he did some great posting.
I've never seen a poster mix so much real knowledge with distortions and total fabrications, and his writing style was hilarious. I wonder if he was just messing around or is he total nutter in real life.
Anyway, this his forum has lost a lot of character by dumping such a prolific poster. It's sad that some people have to take sh*t so seriously on BOTP; we're not publishing dissertations here.

Here is someone that gets it.
Too bad TPTB apparently did not.
BOTP now can go back to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and that will make the pea pickers happy, I guess.
btw, I'm the least computer savvy here and sorry if this is a dumb question, but is your record section something that any Tom, Dick, or Harry can go in and monkey with?
If that is the case, why in hell would you have a system that would allow that?
p.s. I once looked up a local boxer's record in the record section and it showed him as undefeated. I personally saw him get knocked out cold in one round and it was a televised Cable TV fight, no less.
