Which planet are you on ?
Why are you talking about purse bids when the deal's done ?

So for Hearn to agree to a revised date, they would have had to make concessions I'm sure.
With the extra time being granted for negotiations and the purse bids being put back a couple of times, I;d guess the IBF pushed the date back a little, but even if they didn't, I can't see them making a huge fuss over the scheduled date being a bit past the deadline. I would assume that the 90 day limit was to prevent any chance of Porter taking a fight in between and make the sure the fight happened in a reasonable amount of time, rather than as a deadline that would be strictly enforced.

So you don't think that they would have allowed Matchroom to enforce it?

It's all moot now anyway.

They would have done, but I can't see them stripping Porter because Golden Boy scheduled a fight 3 weeks after the deadline, while the IBF are understandably paranoid after being caught taking bribes in return for rankings, I don't think they would risk damaging relations with Golden Boy and Al Haymon.

Well its one or the other isn't it. They strip Porter (because GB weren't making that date) or they don't enforce it.

Couldnt golden boy also use the excuse of internal problems within the company as a reason for the delay?

The fight isn't happening....Porter has apparently been offered a Mayweather fight..plus showtime did not mention anything about Porter - Brook for the August 9th card only fights involving Danny Garcia (strongly rumoured to be against Peterson) & Danny Jacobs.

The shiit is about to hit the fan :o

Hearn has said on twitter today that brook has signed the contract. They are are waiting on confirmation of the date - with the 9th of August likely.

If this fight falls through, then fair enough, everyone can slate Kell.

But until that happens let's not keep having these post mortems on previous opponents not being good enough or excuses.

Let's talk about the approach Kell will need to defeat an American champion in America.

Personally I think the plan is straight forward. Executing it however, is not.

Meet him head on in the first round, take centre ring and land anything to make him respect your power.

Then after making a stand, assume a matador role and spear him coming in. Short, hard chopping shots.

My concern is not Kell having enough ability, but if making 147lb will squeeze him in the later rounds.

I'd like to see plenty of head movement too. Porter likes rolling in and unloading. If he starts bowling them over the top he could catch Kell.

Spoke to soon.

@danrafaelespn: I am told @ShowtimeShawnP vs. @SpecialKBrook will NOT be on the 8/9 card in Brooklyn. Will be some other date, if at all. #boxing

I saw the tweet this morning - not good at all - hoping it is on another card in August

I know he's created a lot of his own bad luck, but if they pull the plug on this Kell will be wondering why he bothers. I'm worried by the time he fights for a title, he'll already be sick of the sport.

Espinoza said on Twitter last week that this was not on New York bill. Ionut Dan Ion, Romania's finest, waiting in wings for vacant title shot

Maybe the clause about random drug testing is not acceptable.

I'll be gutted if this fight doesn't come off, the British boxing public deserves to finally know how good really Brook is.

But if it doesn't come off, I can't see Brook ever getting back in the mix. Kel's his own worst enemy - he's spent so long treading water that no-one outside of his hardcore fans really care if he ever gets a shot. It's pretty clear by now that the Americans certainly don't care about him, and that's bad news for any British fighter trying to challenge for a world title, particularly in such a hot division.

Feel for any of his fans. They might have booked for Los Angeles, Detroit, Atlantic City and now New York, not to see him fight at any of them

If this falls through for no fault of Kell's or matchroom will people lay off kell?

Maybe porter has been offered the mayweather sept fight, if not why else would it fall through?

Who knows? Maybe they don't want him rocking the boat over the peds, maybe he's got a bigger fight lined up, maybe they want an easier fight(Kell is no gimme, Paulie was). All theories.

:D still sore about that one Mickey ?

To be fair, if a fight got cancelled out there you'd still have an awesome trip.
