The release sent out today says people who sign up can get tickets for the SOLD OUT Dublin show. If there's tickets available, how is it a sell out? Sold out is when no tickets are left through any platform.

He said it sold out in 12 minutes, little mention of anything else, they haven't sold all the tickets, so it isn't a sellout.

I have my doubts over where the tickets went to, but it's good to see the interest's there, hopefully that entices a few more Irish amateurs to turn pro. But as I said, in reality they've only sold a few hundred tickets.

I make no mention of Fwank, then you bring him up. Leaving him out of it, I really don't think Matchroom do it right at all. Fight a few bums at home in eliminators, then go to America and get beat up for 'life changing money'. They're great at generating interest and hype in fighters, although Sky are a big help in that. But when it comes to matching and guiding a fighter, IMO they are pretty poor.

It's the sort of fight I could understand Saunders having, I'd rather see him fight someone who will really test him, but he's not ready to step up yet so I could see him having a fight like that. The difference with Macklin is that he's had 3 world title fights, he's 32 and he's been inactive for the last few years, so if he's only fighting every 6 months, he needs to box quality opponents, not knockover jobs.

And if Fwank put the fight on you'd be slating him yourself.

But they are PROMOTERS first and foremost. And they do it well, like it or not.

I shouldn't have brought Fwank up, that's my fault. It's just usually, and I still believe it to be true, that I think a lot of the reasons you dislike Hearn is because you like Warren. They are different characters, so it's usual to like one at the detriment to the other. But as you and SNG said, there was no need.

I don't hate how he has matched his young talent to be honest. Smith and Joshua haven't been matched badly at all. I do sometimes wish he would look for high profile fights as a route to the titles though rather than constantly going through eliminators. But he has also put on a lot of great fights, and I feel he is the one to put your faith into.

To get those fights he needs these kind of fights tho. There is a clear 3 fight plan in place with this fight, Murray (ideally) or Andy Lee and then WT fight. And the plan mentioned in the press conference and interviews doesn't involve 6 months between fights.

I definitely wouldn't be slating Queensbury if they put on an identical main event at an identical venue at an identical amount of notice. With that capacity you aren't going to be bringing the great and the good over. Some people use boxrec alone to rate fighters they haven't heard of. I use both boxrec and the IBO computerised rankings and like I say, with boxrec he is rated about 20th, and with the IBO he is rated number 11. Hardly a fornicating binman.

On the Queensbury front I think their bill tonight in Wolverhampton is looking good. I'm looking forward to the top 2 fights and considering the location and capacity of the arena, I'm not bothered that the bill is shallow with just your 6 rounders beneath those top 2 fights.

I'm sure there is an element of Santa Cruz's team saying one thing for the journalists and one thing behind closed doors but Quigg really needs to face someone that is going to turn heads in his next fight. I'v got a nagging feeling it's gonna be an opponent of the same kind of quality tho. And likewise with the Crolla v Abril situation.

I agree. I tend to think that Hearn has an opponent in mind for each fighter, and until he can get them, he will kind of tread water with them. I don't like that.

I'm curious on first impressions but also on what Eddie has said in IfL.

He said he reckons there will be more than 10 shows but the description on the Matchroom site says 'UP TO 10 shows'

Steve Wood Dave Coldwell and Steve Goodwin do loads of shows so easily scope for mor

He also said the fight archive has loads of old fights is this the case ??

I was one of those who missed out on tickets and the demand is there. Macklin dismissed the Citywest at the press conference but the card should have been put there. It would have been perfect size for the card.

your right seems to be the thing to declare a show a sell out, when in reality it aint. McGuigan has done this with the belfast declaring it a sell out, when there is still loads of £75 plus tickets avail on ticketmaster ...
