He hasn't been binned he's walked. Thought he deserved more money none offered so gone. He's obviously got something else lined up because trust me he was WELL paid for what he did.

Glenn in his younger days was a very good looking man, he was well spoken and looked presentable, that has a big part to why he got the job. He was also still active and a recent world champion - I'm not saying he's let himself go big style, he is quite normal for a bloke pushing 50. However, in his first foray's he auditioned for James Bond.
Achievements and knowledge have very little to do with who will be the pundits. You don't see Ricky Hatton doing much punditry work and you don't get much more knowledgeable and experienced as him. Why? Seeing a bloater sweating profusely in front of the TV lights isn't good TV.
Personally, I think the new batch coming through (Smith, Moore etc) are very good at what they do. However, I would still prefer to see Glenn on board because he isn't afraid of going against the grain when it comes to his picks and also, with his world title he does have the extra notch in terms of achievements. Yes, I know in Jamie's case it is nearly criminal that he never got his opportunity and who knows what might have happened (when you think the likes of Brian Rose, Stuart Hall, Martin Ward, Matthew Hatton, Lee Purdy etc have had opportunities - it is just mind boggling that Jamie didn't get his). However, in Smith's case at the moment he is not proven at European Level yet.
Although you don't even have had to step into the ring to know about the sport and to voice some very good opinion, if I was watching Match of the day I know I'd rather it was Alan Hansen doing the punditry than Clarke Carlisle.

Was all that implied aggro between him and Nelson (who seems too much like an egomaniac pretending ironically to be an egomaniac, but yep, really is an egomaniac, and a big headed one to boot!) fabricated or was there genuine dislike between them?
