Can't remember the last time I enjoyed 17 minutes of nonsense so much. Hopkins can transfix you with his babble.
He's right when he says boxing needs to step up. This is the type of fight that so rarely gets made. It is getting made though because of his own delusions.
He can't win this fight.
The same thing was said about Muhammad Ali taking on George Foreman. The same for Hopkins when he fought Pavlik.
I don't think he'll win the fight but I love the fact it's being made.
When did it become so wrong to dream?

its pretty easy to see the type of fighter Kovalev..typical russian fighter with high workrate, good timing and measure the opponent..great ring generalship..however, he brings exceptional power. Had the russian yesterday had any power at all, hed ko jessie vargas in 8 rounds..now if he had Kovalev type p4p power, he would have knocked him out in 2 rounds. Most these russians with amteur backgrounds are schooled very well and have high workrate. You add incredible power like kovalev and GGG, then they are impossible to beat.Without the power, they are top 10..good power, they be top 5..their power makes them one of best ever.

I saw it but I'm unaware of what nonsense you are speaking about, Hopkins expressed intellect about the business side of boxing and the choices he had and made but you call it nonsense. Please elaborate on the nonsense because I didn't hear anything in that interview that was nonsensical.
The fight isn't getting made because of his delusions, the fight is being made because Hopkins rightfully won his bouts and beat the necessary fighters to earn himself a title and the right to unify the division.
The only nonsense is the comment you made that I addressed above.

I had to turn that stream off after a few minutes in.

Hopefully Hopkins doesn't get hurt and the ref and other officials will know when to call it. I can't Hopkins winning this fight, but of course crazier things have happened in this game. I'd like to see an upset but then again it might be good for the sport if he finally stepped down and handed the torch off to rising star.

Even Russians/Europeans with power are different. Provodnikov is just a slugger like Rios. He is not a very good boxer. Kovalev and GGG (who isn't Russian technically but belongs to the same school) are good boxers. With a very low Bernard's work rate, he just can't outpoint them. On the other hand, he can't engage with them, as he lacks power for that.

I think once Bernard feels Kovalev's power he is going to try and find a way out of the fight before he takes too much punishment. I expect him to either pretend to get fouled and not be able to continue or to get DQ'd by repeatedly fouling.
