Never met him in person but always enjoyed chatting with him on here, he was an incredibly knowledgeable guy with a brilliant dry sense of humour.

I remember a strange editorial about 3 months ago when he said he was really struggling with the pressure of producing the magazine , I hope this didn't bring on a heart attack, poor soul.
I remember about 15 years ago I opened up my Boxing Monthly and was shocked, for those times, to read Glynn's column littered with unacceptable swearing - something you just didn't see then. I felt so strongly about it that I phoned him up. I explained that I liked his magazine, I liked how he was so unbiased in his reporting, but he could express his strong views in print without that language. He took it on board, and I never saw that type of thing again. I have once or twice phoned him since but on these occasions it was to congratulate him on particular articles or formats he'd adopted. The last was very recently, with the articles on Tyson Fury. I appreciated the fact that he'd got out of his London chair and actually went North to have a look for himself.
He seemed a real genuine boxing fan , doing a job he really loved, and not many of us can say that. I hope he had a happy life, and he'll be sadly missed by the boxing community.

Sad loss, often enjoyed his comments on here. Thoughts are with his family. Hope he gets a mention on ringside.

All depends on your perspective fella. I'd say he did die a rich man - rich in experiences, rich in terms of the level of respect he was held in.Tuan_Jim wrote:He didn't die a rich man, but what a man.

Absolutely shocking and heartbreaking news.
Glyn gave me my opportunity in Boxing Monthly just under three years ago and he's someone who's been a mentor and friend to me ever since.
We spoke regularly and his opinion on boxing is the one I valued one of the most. Glyn was his own man who had no favourites and his stance always remained his own no matter who or what was trying to influence it.
He wanted to boxing to succeed at every level and his interest was equal throughout the sport. It wasn't just about Warren and Hearn with Glyn, he genuinely cared about the Dave Coldwells and Steve Woods of the world. He was boxing to the core.
Refusing to do BBC radio due to their attitude towards the sport, leathering Ian Darke because he said an American fight wasn't British press represented when Glyn was there, and threatening ITV when they sarted a boxing show called "Boxing Monthly."
Glyn was an absolute diamond and I'll miss him so much.
We spoke on Friday about the Porter/Brook fight and he was his usual witty self. I wish I could've thanked him for everything he done for me.
Boxing is now a poorer place.

i dont know what to say other than RIP, Glyn was always friendly in my limited interactions with him on her and via PM.
I hope his name lives on long in our memories and he lives on in his legacy he left that is BM.

RIP.
Utterly devastated to hear this sad news. His editorials were always brutally honest and must-read. His obvious enthusiasm & love for the sport, warts and all, made Boxing Monthly the magazine to have each & every month, I even kept up my sub when I emigrated.
Boxing has had some dark times recently, this sadly is another to add to the list.

Yeah nice post. What were his thoughts on the Brook fight? Always keen to here the thoughts from a wise boxing fan.

Such a sad day, have so much respect for Glyn, his own man: always fair & always told it like it is.
Such a loss to British boxing, Glyn along with Graham Houston became THE most respected oppinion in world boxing - thankful we still have Graham to carry on the Boxing Monthly legacy and God bless Glyn Leach
