Johnny didn't like to engage much when he was in his prime so I can only imagine that this will be even worse after 10 years of inactivity without being punched.
Match him with Audley - we could then see the worlds first 10 round fight without a single punch being thrown !

Huck would have smashed Nelson in his prime, never mind this geriatric version

Sadly, you are 100% correct.

I think it would be a close fight, but i might just edge towards prime Johnny, I think the cruizerwieght division is particularly weak just now.
But i do agree, the 48 year old version who hasn't been in a fight in a decade is going to end up getting hurt if this goes ahead

Just read this thread with tears running down my face laughing.
With the stuff they're going through it can only be a matter of time before a generation of Syrians takes over the boxing world.

Looks like this may finally be laid to rest, the WBO have refused to sanction the fight.

They said it on Ringside that the WBO wouldnt sanction it.
So I guess that draws a line under it.

It appears that for once in the circus that is boxing, common sense has prevailed.
As seductive as the idea might be that Nelson could pull it off, in all likelihood, he would have gotten the ever-living shite kicked out of him. The man is 48, and has been inactive for 10 years, he was never a puncher even in his prime, and the odds of him knocking Huck out, were miniscule to say the least.
Nelson should stay retired. It's his life, but why on earth he'd want to take such a ludicrous risk, for the sake of sating his ego, really is beyond me.

A lack of a sanctioning body didn't stop Hill vs Maske 2 - Hill world title was not on the line.
There have been comparisons between that fight and this potential one, big difference is that Huck is in his prime whereas Hill was well past it and possibly the break did Maske more good than Hill who had been active at top level throughout the 10 year period.
I remember Nelson saying when he was champ that he saw Huck (and not Enzo Mac who was mandatory) as his successor. I still think its Nelson breathing a sigh of relief..... I thought (and still do) think he was firmly joking.

So much interest in this thread. I remember watching Johnny's last fight - barely eeking out a split decision over Vincenzo Cantatore, a competent but sub-Huck fighter. I thought 9 years ago Nelson was starting to looking a bit stiff and aged in his movements. I guess Johnny agreed because he retired instead of facing Enzo. I don't think Johnny could go more than 6 rounds, and probably can barely do roadwork with that hip now.

Are you fuckin mad ? Retired to avoid Enzo ? I think you'll find a seriously dislocated knee put paid to that. For Christ's sake get your facts right before posting bullshit.
For the record Nelson would have stood Enzo on his head.
The reason this fight was talked up - not a joke - is because Johnny had 13 successful defences and so does Huck. Winner takes the record.
Barely do roadwork ? He is fit as a fiddle.
