George is a high quality fighter who has given us two of the best boxing nights in decades. He has a lot of heart, skill and great power.
Some fighters do unravel mentally after a significant loss. I hope George doesn't. I hope he goes on to win a title. We won't really know though for a while yet.
Watching things again I think George dominated most of the first fight to an extent that he thought he could do it again. He thought he was so much better than Carl an started trying to counter with left hooks (which he ultimately paid the price for) and doing things he doesn't usually do.
The early KD Groves scored in the first fight was a huge factor in fight one as to why George had so much of it his own way.
Reminded me a little of Duran-Leonard. Duran had Leonard all but out in round 2 of the first fight. And had his way with him for the next 4 rounds.

I think it could be interesting again further down the track is Groves gets a couple of impressive wins and Carl keeps going and wins another big fight. I don't think it will happen again though, not sure they could ever sell it so well again it's clear what is probably going to happen.

One thing Groves has found out is that he can get stopped pretty brutally. First fight would have gone the same way, that is clear now after the second fight. He was gone both times and convinced us all and himself that he wasn't gone in the first fight.
Now that feeling of invincibility has gone I do think he's probably going to have some issues in the ring psychologically.

Where was this mentioned?
Thinking about it, if Froch does fight on, and George wins on 20th September and then wins the world title, it would be a good conclusion to the situation between them; a lot of good rivalries have trilogies, and I don't think Froch v Groves 3 would be any worse than a cracking fight again...?
I reckon they'd both fancy it, Froch would think he can go out with a bomb and beat the young pup again, likely as a world champ by that stage, and Groves thinks he has the beating of Froch (which in fairness you can argue since he more than held his own throughout the 17 rounds so far).
Would love it!
I don't think Carl needs this fight, having stopped George twice. He was really shown the door I. The second fight. I think he gets knocked clean out anytime he's in a ring with Froch. I don't see this fight happening unless Groves gets a huge win against a top name.

Enzo Mac is a very "on top" fighter. He'd been pole-axed a few times but he never seemed to have any problem putting it one somebody. Of course he's possibly in a classification all of his own re this sort of thing.
Also I think it's different to say the first fight could have gone the same way.....They'd both had their chins warmed up a bit by then and I'm not sure Froch was fit to find such a clinical punch in the last 3 rounds given his own travails that night.

Not a cat in hell's chance of it ever happening.
Carl I believe is two fights from retirement - maybe only one.
If he gets his wish to fight Chavez in Vegas I think that will be his swansong.
If it has to be Chunky in the UK then after he's dealt with DeGale - and he will - then the mega fight will be back on the agenda in Vegas - but not necessarily Chavez by then.
Froch Groves has had its life span.
A third fight would be a tough tough sell.
Groves v DeGale rematch - now that's a better forecast.

By comfortable I mean 'without doubt', unless you're a hardcore Froch fanboy I felt Kessler definitely won that fight, as good and as close as it was.
It wasn't one of those that there was outcry over the result, it was a clear win, maybe that would be a better choice of words.

Froch vs Groves 3 seems somewhat unnecessary to me.
The first fight was stopped early, but I was always of the opinion it was beginning to swing in Carl's direction anyway. Another few rounds, and Carl would've won somehow in my opinion.
Being that that was just my opinion, there was a need for a rematch. Carl won it, and without controversy. Carl only has two or three fights left in. I don't see why he'd want to waste a third on Groves. It just seems like they'd be doing it because they think it would sell again, rather than for any other reason.

Groves would have to win a world title first.

Amazing, people are saying "oh this would simply have to be another cracking fight"...... did you watch the rematch. Intriguing yes, but not a candidate for fight of the year, far from it.

Not considering his last fight was in front of 78,000 and more than 50% were cheering for Groves. I was surrounded by Groves "fans" behind where the stage was set up. But where are all these "fans" now, as Gomez says, they were never fans, just wanted to see Froch fail (F knows why!)
Just because of the controversy surrounding the first fight, I imagine. Many people, due to the hype, basically believed Froch was shite due to fluking a win over Groves. Other results before that meant nothing. I guess people saw a Groves win as justice.

it's very unnecessary now that groves has signed with sauerland.
sign with eddie and a few coats of paint later would have nicely set up a 3rd fight.
james degale is in the picture now.
let groves have his european title fights. :>

Same thing really, aint it?
Groves was signed by Eddie because he was British and he saw that as a selling point. The performance by Groves which lead to a hugely lucrative rematch was just a bonus. I don't believe Eddie really planned that, he just signed Groves due to him being British and being the same weight division as Froch. That's why he's signed DeGale. It's going to be hyped up as a new all-British superfight.

There won't be a third fight. There are better options out there for both of them, plus the public won't be as interested anymore after the last 2 fights so it wouldn't generate the same dosh. Their careers are going down different paths now. George needs to get back into contention for a title shot, Carl will probably only fight one or two more times. Talking of which, isn't it about time Eddie set something up for him...

Yeh the fight crossed over to casual fans who have probably never paid much attention to Froch before as a lot of his career has been under the radar.
Basically it attracted the most fickle types of fans who will pick one fighter then drop them the moment they lose and stick up for whoever wins. They also usually support Man United.
