Wake's compatriot Hidenori Otake is apparently the new name in the frame

This is a joke.

If his opponent has pulled out why doesn't he just fight Galahad in December then if the money is decent.

This show is already sold out and having Scott won't increase PPV buys so pointless him being on it then.

Can also take his and his opponenets purse of the bill and make more money.

Makes no sense !

Agree thats the way it was worded in the article though. This was an article retweeted by Joe Gallagher so I'd expect it to be correct.

Otake's not very good. It's like David Haye pulling out of a fight with Wladimir Klitschko and then Wlad fighting Chisora. Otake is made to order, defensively solid but a light hitter and does little that well, though does have good stamina. Interesting Otake had a fight cancelled earlier this year after a rib injury and recently vacated his Japanese title stating that he does want to focus on a world title fight.

Although his name might be linked to the fight I can't see him actually being in serious talks due to the upcoming show that he's headlining. It's Vs a TBA for now but Kaneko are doing what they can to get him back in the ring and shake off some just, see how the rib is etc etc. For what it's worth he hasn't updated his personal blog since September 30th.

Wake seemed to hint he had no idea he was in world talks until October 2nd when he was informed by a third party blog that he was apparently in line for Quigg and stated he was "on standby". No mention of an injury on his blog or twitter.

Takahiro Onaga has just echoed a lot of the recent comments doubting whether either Wake or Otake were ever actually in real negotiations for the bout:

I wonder if Quigg will leave Matchroom? I know there are not many choices out there but perhaps a change is needed.

No one in the top 10. Rule them all out. Ruiz has a WBC eliminator with Gutierrez, Oguni has a Japanese title fight with Ishimoto, won't be Wake, Otake, Avalos, Frampton, LSC or Quigg himself, and Martinez has apparently said not in November.

Wonder how many of the top 20 can be ruled out such as Kuga, Ishimoto, Gutierrez, Galahad, Omori...

Quigg crazy for turning down 400k but i did read it would of been in Dubia, not sure about that but i guess it would of been a good holiday for some. didnt the board block a hennessy card abroad a few years ago? Quigg going on a Hatton WBU run of opponents but can still see him getting a big fight next Summer.

Looks well injured to me. Pain written on every crease of his face etc.

Just looked for odds on the fight out of interest and Quigg is 1/18 and Otake is 7/1 so Scott should win with no trouble.

PS those odds are the same as McDonnells and his opponent looks awful on paper.

Odds on boxing I have found is very stingy on the home favourites to stop people making money in accys rather then a true reflection on the fights especially latelySmith I hear 1/10 on and that isn`t right.Quigg is a big favourite for sure but 1/18 fornicate me I`m half tempted to take a punt on Otake or Sjelvkova at those odds.

Yeah Quigg is expected to win, but I'll be pleased to see him start defending his belt against reputable and credible opponents.

I mean, let's be honest about it the list of boys that he's been fighting over the past year - Silva, Munyai & Jamoye - it's poor form. These guys just don't deserve a shot at any World Title.
