If even hard core boxing fans are boycotting this one how will SKY sell it to the one off buyers ? A fake punch up at the press conference maybe ? If the two of them are so desperate to get it on then why are they messing about with PPV money ? Surely they would prefer for millions to watch it on SKY Sports instead of 37 people on PPV.

Q: Why are things on PPV anyway, despite logically doing less numbers & being seen than on regular TV?
A: You earn more money, in the short-term.
& also: d'you really think the number of "hard-core boxing fans" "boycotting" this fight is going to make an appreciable dent in the PPV numbers, compared to say, the amount of "Cleverly fans" & "Bellew fans" who will buy it even though they wouldn't know Roman González if he tattooed his name on their liver with a tasty four-punch combination?

He isn't as bad as things were previous to him, and he has been good for the sport. That being said, I agree he is sliding towards tendencies he promised to avoid. No TBAs on the card once tickets go on sale being one

Really poor showing from Sky. They are treating their Sky sports subscribers with utter contempt.
I hope the masses influence it with their wallets. I won't be paying for it.

Do you think he has been good for the sport? I mean i dont think he's been as bad as i've given him stick for at times and definietly no worse than a lot of other promoters but i'm just starting to see them as all the same. It's all about a pound note. I understand it's there business and stuff so in truth you cant begrudge that but purely from a fans perspective it's not great.

How many fans has Cleverly or Bellew got ? Will the arena even sell out ?

Good point. Not like either has a massive following, ESP Bellend. There will undoubtedly be some WWE shenanigans and as a Murdoch paper, plenty of coverage on 'Britain's best loved toilet paper', the Sun.

I'm sure Khan vs McCloskey was a PPV catastrophe. Was a few years back now but i seem to remember a reported 50ppv sales before Sky bumped it and some other channel picked it up, Prime Time TV or some shit.

No one buys a PPv a week in advance .. Didn't the undercard fall apart so they put Khan on ss2 so he binned them for prime time

British boxing is in a far better place now than it was before Edward. He is being questionable as of late though.

Why's it better? I'm not having a go, you may well be correct, I could just do with you to flesh your point out to help form my own opinion.

Yeah that's right, Khan & Sky had a big falling out over that. Sky made the right decision to be fair, that card was even worse than this one!

Which of course is boycotted in Liverpool so half of the target audience won't read Barry Hearn on a Saturday

Bigger fights. One of the biggest ever, with massive crossover appeal. More casual people actually giving a fornicate about boxing.
A re-spark of the interest, that had been lost. Not fully returned, but definitely arrested and is moving back in the right direction. The average level of card quality had risen.
Boxing was exasperating. There is potential everywhere now, fights to get excited about being made, frustration when they don't. I genuinely think without Eddie, FW wouldn't have had to raise his level of card which we have seen of late.
It troubles me that some bad practices are being adopted by Hearn. I don't like it. But honestly, it would have been so much worse.

The only way Hearn Justifies this is if he reshuffles the bill:
Bellow vs Cleaverly
Quigg vs Galahad (seen quiggs current opponent lose every round to rigo in A.C. last year, no one cares about this fight)
Smith vs Degale (ifs Hearn/Gallagher says he ready for groves then hes ready for Degale and they are already both on the bill, so take what they were paying their opponents just give it to them for a bigger pot).
Joshua vs Sprott (good fight-no issues there)
If Hearn done the above card 90% of people currently complaining and saying they are not buying it would buy it. The sad thing is its do-able but would never happen.

When i first started getting into boxing proper(2005/6),you had Friday Fight Night on Sky and there was either a British,Commonwealth and sometimes European title fight every week with a US world title fight card on the saturday,i used to prefer it like that rather than every couple months a few domestic title fights on the same show, feels like the British title is hardly ever contested these days
Todays the day of the International/Inter Continental fights[Insert sad face]
