Well said mate,i tried to make that clear in the OP but you know what its like

There's far too much of a grey area to harp on about No1's and Lineal etc,i just wanted to know who was technically the last undisputed titlist regardless of whose most peoples numero uno

And it still seems to be Jermain Taylor

Yes, I believe that the last person to hold all four major titles (whether that's considered undisputed champ or not) was Taylor. I've seen multiple people claim that Haye was undisputed champion, appealing to the fact that Mormeck was stripped of the IBF title shortly before Haye beat him, but whatever the reason he was never the IBF champion and thus has no claim to holding the four major titles simultaneously.

By the most common standard of undisputed championing, the last undisputed champion was Jermain Taylor.

I could support the idea of Wlad holding a claim to undisputed championship for the fact that he held every world title (including the irrelevant Ring and Lineal titles, and consensus #1) other than the WBC belt, which was vacant in late 2013 / early 2014. So, at that time, there was actually not any other champion around to dispute his claim.

Vic Darchinyan was another recent close runner-up to being undisputed, as he held the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles; which prior to 2007 was considered sufficient to satisfy the undisputed criteria, but he unified them in 2008, after the WBO belt was needed. However, in early 2009, the WBO and IBO belts were vacant, so there was no one to dispute Darchinyan's claim.

Not exactly clear-cut that we're talking about champs holding 'the four major belts' when the opening post cites Lennox as undisputed 'when he retired' (even though he didn't hold all four belts at that time)... Whatevs, probably just a mistake on op's part.

Yep ponch im not sure about why Lewis was undisputed champ even though everyone knew he was number 1,maybe it was because the WBO werent recognised when he became world champ???

Christ knows,i thought it was just me who didnt get the undisputed concept but it seems its vague to most people, its all about how you interpret the term

Seeing as its its nigh on impossible to unify all 4 belts, and its pretty dificult to get No1 to fight No2,undisputed is probably a word that will die out in boxing

Wlad,Ward,Mayweather are Undisputed and to a lesser degree Garcia,Rigondeaux.......dont know a great deal about the lighter weights,i know Roman Gonzalez is p4p but seeing as he's just moved up to Flyweight he'll not be undisputed
