It was an upset because Stalker was rightly the favourite, but nothing to do with a bad night, he boxed well, maybe not at his absolute best, but Catterall was simply better than him, hit harder, better timing and even when the pace slowed and they boxed in the centre of the ring, Stalker didn't take control as you'd expect given his extensive amateur experience.

I mentioned earlier in the thread about not rushing him, for me fighting Saunders would be exactly that. Down the line it could be a great fight, but right now Saunders would go through him for me, he needs to be a bit more active, but if they threw him in with Di Rocco for the European title I'd back him to win comfortably, even after 10 fights.

The Brit 140 is starting to get slightly interesting again.

Saunders is a spiteful fighter, I hope he's in some good fights soon as he's about 30 now isn't he ?

thing that makes Jack an exciting prospect is his young age, imagine what he will be like in 2 or 3 years time. Saunders will probably push forward as he is in his late 20s

Stalker put up a good show and tried his best, he's got plenty of courage and just lost to a better fighter. Catterall has a good style and picks his punches well, he'll do well I'm sure and will cause a few more upsets.

Tell you what. It must be a a very hard thing for Stalker to live with. I am guessing he has been a full time amateur and pro for ten years. This must be a hard moment in life to face for any full time sportsman, but I think for boxers, especially guys who are full time and dont know anything else, the decision about moving into something else must be very very tough.

I hope he makes the transition into a different life (if he decides not to continue) successfully.

28 I think. To be fair though mate, Carl had his best years pretty late relatively speaking.

Well impressed with Catterall on that showing. Really picked his punches and has good power - he's got a lot of attributes and thinks about what he's doing so he'll defo be an interesting one to watch for now, probably one of the fights of last night in terms of enjoyment watching.

Froch was still 5'7 when he left school and didn't grow to his height until he was late teens. So he's probably a late developer.
