I know its mental, all 3 must count themselves very lucky
I really hope Crolla can get his career back on track

Also John Joe Nevin having his legs broken earlier this year.
You should have tried to pass it off as a joke, you might just have got away with it
Maybe if id posted it on CS,thats the mentality over there
I read Adam Smith's book(good read BTW) and he done a big bit about Corrales,he was his favourite fighter and got pretty close to him by all accounts,Diego even let him stay at the family home and looked after Adam when he was over there
I can imagine Adam in big baggy jeans, khaki top and a bandana on whilst hanging on a street corner with the cholo.

It does bring into focus the old debate about have-a-go heroes. Crolla was a brave lad who who intervened in a robbery taking place next door. Very honourable however it almost cost him his life and could still cost him his career depending on whether he's suffered neurological damage. Should Crolla have left it to the police, and his neighbours insurance company, or was he right to put himself at risk? Would he do it again? Personally I'd have kept myself to myself. Simply not worth it.
I admire your honesty. Lets be honest,we can all say what we would do if something like this happens but until we are confronted with a situation we don't really know what we would do.

Can't believe those who would shy away from confronting burglars. Probably nicking some poor kids Xmas presents...
Terrible news if true, my impression reading the press reports and Hearn's hope for "rescheduling" meant he would be allowed to box on. Is the surgery he has gone through a head surgery or is it for his ankle?
Will certainly need a long rehab and I cannot see Abril waiting 6/7 months without a defence.

He's right though.
Much as I admire Crolla for his actions, and mean him no disrespect, I'm not sure it was worth it at the end of the day. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have done it myself. I'll admit that makes Crolla a better man than me, but at the same time, is it worth the risk? He could've died, may never fight again, and for what? To stop his neighbour losing some household items that can be replaced?
Burglars should be gassed with paedos, pornographers, fraudsters and dealers, etc... but, at the same time, I don't think any less of them for defending themselves. Why wouldn't they? In this instance, as I understand it, they fled and were pursued, when one of them was caught, the other threw a wall top at Crolla in an effort to help his mate. The typical British have-a-go-hero expects fair play from the criminal and, therefore, usually goes in with no more than a "What the fornicate are you doing?" and a puffed up chest. That's nowhere near enough firepower, even for run of the mill toerags like the two Anthony encountered, let alone Albanians and Kosovans who may not have run in the first place.
All the best to Anthony, I'm optimistic that his career will continue.
we also had the boxer that was killed as part of a drug issue (forget his name but was an ex squaddie, reached the final of prizefighter ?light middle)
we had sam sexton getting hold of burglars at his Norwich restaurant.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and we are now told that it was a burglary. What if the 'burglars' were leaving the scene having raped or killed the neighbour. 'Oh yes officer, I saw them, could gave stopped them but have a title fight coming up so didn't bother!'
Look up integrity in the dictionary whilst reflecting that had you seen Crolla being done you'd all have run away like pussies.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
Regardless of what anyone else would have done, Anthony Crolla chose to do something, and I applaud that. I pray that he makes a full recovery (mentally and physically), that his family are supported in every way, and that the criminals are caught and dealt with appropriately.
I applaud ant for having the bottle to try and apprehend the pudenda but the trouble with that situation is that you either end up seriously hurting one or both of them or you get seriously hurt yourself, both scenarios are likely to end his career and affect his future.

Even if he doesn't need surgery, recovery time can be an age, and that's obv just physically. :( who knows how it will effect him mentally?
large weight gain is pretty much assured with a head injury, it generally always happens for some reason. Then there's issues with balance. It really is a shitty thing to happen.
Don't want to sound like I'm being negative, hope he makes a full recovery, but he's got a hell of a task on his hands.
It sucks, I hope they get caught and have the book thrown at them. It affects his wife, kids....so many different people. Just awful.
You also have to think about the law and what they'd even get sentenced with if caught (for the original burglary). No doubt they'd get a slap on the wrists or at worse a few months inside, which is nothing to the scrotes that do this sort of thing.
Risk vs reward still says don't take on 2 guys when there's only one of you, unless you are a heavyweight with one punch KO power and can flatten people.
sounds like he's been KO'd by the slab and landed funny on his ankle - as if the initial injury wasn't bad enough. A bloody concrete slab ffs. Attempted murder in my book and let's hope they are caught and dealt with for a long, long time.

Does anyone remember a tough heavyweight from Bristol who was part of Sanigar's gym - Karl Andrews - and he was stabbed to death in a fight in Spain (his murderers are still at large) and Dean Francis was thinking aloud in an interview how someone so big and tough could lose his life in such a way but when there are weapons - it doesn't matter big or tough you are - there isn't much defence against a knife or a paving stove - even if they land against crossed arms - it is going to do a lot of damage.
The real villains in all this are GMP who have let a burgarly epidemic develop in Manchester, you call them out and there is that bored irritantance as they give you the number for crimestoppers - the scrotes (and there are hundreds) know this and know they can run free robbing houses. Some of the estates in that city are rife with these horrible pudenda and they think they are above the law, and they are at this moment in time. It is absolutely disgusting and it is the fault of the police. They are a disgrace when it comes to burgulary and every Mancunian knows it.
Get well soon Anthony. My condolences to his family.
