From what I understand it has to either be an EBU rated fighter and it would count as a 'defense' of the title Fury won from Chisora, or it would have to be a man who is ranked by the WBO (and/or all organisations). Top ten-fifteen ranked. I don't believe it will be Browne, or Ustinov. I don't believe it will be Thompson (though I'd love that fight). I don't believe it will be Boystov either. Of all the ranked candidates, the only one who fits the bill presumably is David Price. He is ranked #9 in the world, last I checked, and he is in the top 5 in the EBU.

I would love to see that fight, considering they have the history--- it would be a big fight for Britain--- and quite frankly, because Price is (outside of his horrible conditioning) virtually in the same mold as Klitschko. A big, strong, powerful man with a questionable chin and good skills. It would be the proper tune up.

However, I have a feeling the opponent may be someone more mundane. Like Manuel Charr. I hope that isn't the case, but I do think that's more likely than someone of more note and fame.

Price would earn Fury very good money too, they could build it up easily. Would be 3x bigger than Cleverley/Bellew, and it would still be just a 'tune up' for Fury.

A lot of British boxing fans, in fact, I would guess all British boxing fans would love to see it.

Price would sooner trouser a few quid fighting a bum in Germany. No chance of this happening sadly.

Price is out of question I think. That is still potentially a big fight and vibe you are getting from Fury camp does not suggest a big fight. Plus Price could get a fight with Joshua next year, I guess he'd rather wait for that.

Szpilka fits WBO/EBU ranking requirement too. And he also rated at WBC. But could be deemed too risky for the Fury camp.

I am narrowing it downs to Hammer, Pianeta or Szpilka.

Would love to see it but price has signed with a major promoter who is positioning him to pick up a world title in the post-wlad era, putting him in with fury just to make up the numbers for fury's own route to the top would not make sense. Basically they all have their own agenda and they won't fight each other. If price took the fight, and beat fury, his next fight would be for the world title, and he's just not ready for it. It's a slower approach for price.

I'm hoping for an English speaker, so we can get abit of verbals going into this one.
Tarver, Ruiz jnr, Browne, Parker and Scott are top-25 on boxrec and would fit the bill for me...

Arnold Gjergjaj is 26(20)-0 and is european champion (or has a belt anyway). He is 197cm (just slightly shorter than Klitschko), always turns up in shape and at 30 is close to his peak. His quality of opponents thus far hasn't been incredible but credible.

I am surprised you say he is the worst sort of opponent for Fury!

I'd rather see him fight Gjerjaj than Hammer.

Fury's Wlad's mandatory. It won't be Price, as there won't be an ounce of risk

he isnt worse but hardcor fans like us know he is actually a fiar enough oppoent for fury in this current position

any of the 5 ive mentioned i think are "good" choices

Tickets are on sale now, so you would think they will need to announce Eubank Jnr and Fury's opponents sharpish to start shifting some tickets!

They were supposed to announce them on Friday

Not really bothered who it is as long as he boxes and we see a bit of hype entertainment! Whatever it's not going to be anyone even close to good. To much on the line for anything more than average opponent?

Remember, they are mandatory for the WBO belt. I think whatever happens late next month between Stiverne and Wilder will dictate what Wlad does next.
I'm sure team Fury would be pretty pleased to see Wlad get stripped of the WBO and their man fight for the vacant title if Wlad pursues the winner of Stiverne-Wilder.

I think its Wlads goal to unify the 4 heavyweight titles... If he vacates the WBO in order to pursue the WBC he will still only have three belts... However, you could well argue the WBC belt is the most prestigious of the 4!

It's not so much the 4 belts thing, it's more to do with Wilder/Stiverne providing a clear number 2 in the division and an obvious challenger. Given that fight will almost certainly finish with a spectacular KO, it will only add to the Wlad vs winner of that fight, will be in the States etc

If Wilder wins its unlikely we will see Wlad vs Wilder anytime soon...

This is because Wlad has just signed a three fight deal with HBO (Jennings will be his 2nd) and Wilder is contracted to Haymon/Showtime. Haymon does not have his fighters fight on HBO, period!!!
